Volcano Katla is overdue for an eruption that will effect the world on a global scale. It could induce a winter similar to a nuclear winter, not just that but also huge amounts of water from the glacier will be released apparently as much as all the greatest rivers combined.

Read article here: www.bbc.co.uk...

Did you not read you own source right, it said that happened back in 1755 not that it will happen this time.

if it were to blow do you think that the east coast would really be effected??some do but it this volcano has done this before why would it now..thanks for the update...

Interesting how all of these potential disasters are over due all over the world. What is really interesting is that a quick read of the Bible predicts all of these great disasters coming very soon.

This eruption is overdue. Which means there's a lot more pressure and the potential for a greater eruption increases and therefore the chance of a worst case senario is at its largest.

It is actually expected to be similar, albeit in the grand scheme this isn't really a big deal (except locally). The real issue is the amount of material ejected and it's global effects

Exactly, It's this part that sounded worrying. Quoting source, " this eruption generated enough sulphuric acid droplets that it made the atmosphere reflective, cooled the planet for an entire year or more and caused widespread famine in many places around the globe."

Its been building for months now..do they have an idea when its going to blow???

Does this answer your question? From the OP article. www.bbc.co.uk...

"There have been more than 500 tremors in and around the caldera of Katla just in the last month, which suggests the motion of magma. And that certainly suggests an eruption may be imminent."

Just the release of that much fresh water into the Atlantic ocean alone would cause the desalination properties to create an immediate ice age nightmare.

Refer to the movie "The Day After" for info on this... It gives a very realistic scenario on something like this.

I think you are thinking of this one.. Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma. Looks like it likely WILL happen at some point. When i saw the show on it the side looked ready to slide now!

The second time bomb is a mega-tsunami caused by a massive landslide as a large section of La Palma, one of the Canary Islands in the Eastern Atlantic, collapses into the ocean following a volcanic eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma. If (when) this occurs, modeling results indicate a wall of water up to 300 feet high would race across the Atlantic and reach the East Coast in about nine hours with devastating effects.
www.washingtonpost.com...
The debris will continue to travel along the ocean floor as a debris flow. Computer modelling indicates that the resulting initial wave may attain a local amplitude (height) in excess of 600 metres (1,969 ft) and an initial peak to peak height that approximates to 2 kilometres (1 mi), and travel at about 1,000 kilometres per hour (621 mph) (approximately the speed of a jet

It's been a while since I've seen a D&G thread.. well not really D&G but good enough lol

Thanks for the info, I hadn't an idea that this even existed.

That movie was garbage. Even NASA refused to consult for it, the science was so bad.

Actually It's very viable for this senario to occur, if cold water from the eruption enters the Atlantic gulf stream, this could cause it to stop and in a chain reaction of events a new ice age could come into effect within weeks.

There are deep underground supervolcanoes all over the world that we have no idea about. We know of a couple like the one underneath the Yellowstone national park. The magma pool is about the size of nevada underneath the Earth and when this goes, it ain't gunna be good. But at the same time, as far back as we go in recorded civilization we have always been predicting "the End". I think that there is an evolutionary reason for this. We have devoloped a sense that death is near, which in consequence influences our actions. We take risk into account, and also we have fear for what the future brings, so we are weary and easily manipulated. This is also mirrored in religion. Maybe these concepts exist for the pure reason, that the "alpha" man/woman would realize these concepts and use them to manipulate the tribe ( human race ) towards a more advantagous state. Obviously our species has grown so large that normal techniques of communication are not powerful enough to get any response, however fear of death, and love of religion are...

If this is the icelandic volcano then IMO its no coincidence that this would happen as iceland have decided to go against a NWO. No place for any country in a new world order.

Yes that does indeed sound worrying particularly when it is already happening. There are already many hungry people around the world.
And yes I`m self-centered due to I`m still crying over a coffee shortage so to say. No coffee vs no food I`m having trouble deciding on this choice.

Also seems to me how funny it is when people just blow off everything blasted into our air. It might be small sure but have enough small things going on it`s bound to add up. This just sounds like it can do it on it`s own though.

I haven't heard this one, are you talking about the banking fiasco? That's an interesting theory especially if you're refering to the use of some sort of super weapon capable of volcanic eruptions??

While discharge from the Laurentide ice sheet is theorized to have caused this in the past, the amount of discharge simply does not compare here. Please post a link to one scientific study stating that the discharge from this volcano could interupt thermohaline circulation.
