Problem is, this is just another politician talking..

Who really believes what they say anymore?
And that goes equally for ALL countries..

for me it looks like the explosion at isfahan was their job (heck, they even claim it wasn't an accident - that's as far as they can go without openly saying 'we did it'), hence the calm reply from barak.

after all, he's the last person i can think of that wouldn't want to attack iran.

When asked about the "accident" didn't he say something like "and I hope there's many more" ??

He's one sick puppy for sure..

let's hope not.
just a few more mossad operations... er, i mean 'hand of god accidents', and they won't have a reason to attack.

true, but what surprises me is the fact that they seem to handle it covertly for now, blowing up stuff here and there, instead of going all medieval on iran's ass. i know that pulling the samson option is their sole reason of existence, so they'll do whatever they can to provoke others to attack them - but here comes the question.

what if they don't want to provoke iran, but someone else?

maybe.

but one thing troubles me and it's the fact that they may be insane, but they're certainly not stupid. they know that when they'll attack iran, they're doomed. of course they want to go down, so they have an excuse to take the world with them, but they don't want to take the blame. they don't want the samson option look like samson option. if they'll attack iran, they won't have too many targets. russia? china? they'll think twice before risking WW3 over iran. such war would be too small for them to be worth it - iran and israel would end up being devastated and the rest would be taken back to the cold war times. israel could be dropping few nukes over iran - and they could even try to nuke few targets in russia or china - but in that moment usa and the rest would leave them alone, letting russia handle it. society wouldn't support going to war with russia (resulting in WW3) over israel, especially knowing that iran isn't a danger anymore (not like it ever was). result: cold war and relatively small destruction, without too many opportunities to boost the economy. israel would have no excuse to attack the west.

it would be entirely different though in case they would provoke a war with, lets say, syria. then it would all depend on turkey and iran reactions. turkey could get a red light from the west to prevent them from supporting iran's movements in syria, but they could see joining iran as the only way to prevent potential russia-west conflict, because if russia would get involved - and it probably will - then it's russia, iran, syria and turkey - a NATO member - against israel. western countries wouldn't be of course that happy to attack israel, knowing its nuclear capabilities, but my guess is that society would see turkey's, iran's and russia's moves as a clear signal that 'enough is enough' when it comes to tolerating israel and its madness. also, turkey could then ask other NATO countries to get involved and with russia already in the game, they would have only two options:
- abandon turkey and protect israel, undermining NATO and standing against iran and russia (and possibly china), getting WW3 as a result,
- join the party with turkey, iran and russia, to crush israel and have a middle east without that mad dog.

iran isn't a danger and they know it. israel is - and the west could be happy eliminating it, if russia would happen to take some damage for them. israel would get their gog and magog war, and isn't that what they're waiting for? to get attacked by everyone, so they can pull the samson option without getting blamed, because 'hey, we were just defending ourselves'?

to be honest im completely bamboozeled...

on one hand, it would seem Israel has seen the actual challenge Iran and Russia would make.. economically and militarily.. and they've backed down.. id like to see this is probably a last gasp and we'll see Israeli politics fade into history..

but, the fact the USA is stating sanctions are the way to go, is odd. Sanctions wont do jack squat... still pushing the notion that the Iranians will reverse their nuclear stance purely by sanctioning them is fantasy.. look at Iran and its media statements.. does this look like a country that wants or NEEDs to back down due to sanctioning?

strange indeed...
