KINGSTON — Instead of seeing Rudolph the reindeer’s shiny red nose, two Kingston children saw flashing police lights instead.
About 11 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a Kingston home after two children, ages 6 and 4, called 911 asking to speak to either the police chief or Santa Claus.
Police said officers arrived at the home, interviewed the family and kids, and instructed them on proper use of emergency services.
I can hear it now....
Kids: "We need to speak to Santa"
911 operator: "What's your emergency?"
Kids: "Mom and dad said no Wii this year cause Santa doesn't have enough money. Santa don't need money, he can make it in his workshop. We need to speak with Santa NOW!"
911 operator: "Your mom and dad are right but you can't call Santa at the police station sweetie."
Kids: " We know you have him. We saw him in the back of your police car just yesterday. Only he wasn't wearing his red suit, he was wearing handcuffs and a pair of overalls. Please let us speak to him."
