This 1967 encounter near Lima is one of the most interesting in UFO history:
wiki.razing.net...
The credibility of the multiple witnesses, including both passengers and crew, and the lack of any prosaic explanation for their experience make it a
really important case.
And we have one widely reproduced passenger photo:
This is the only surviving photo of the funnel-shaped flying object that paced the Fawcett Airlines DC-4 passenger liner in flight from Piura to
Lima on February 2, 1967, at 06:30 P.M. The passengers were all held for interrogation by authorities after the plane landed. Several of the
passengers had taken photos of the strange craft alongside the airliner, but all cameras were taken and all film was confiscated. One passenger, who
insisted on remaining anonymous, succeeded in saving his film from which this single photograph was made.
Despite what the caption says, I can't see the UFO.
All I see is the starboard wing of the DC4, illuminated by a very bright light, top left, outside the picture. The light also illuminates the window
edge of the darkened cabin, bottom right.
Unless I'm going blind, it seems that this important photo has been wrongly captioned in all the popular UFO sites.
The only prosaic explanation for the illumination that I can think of is a lightning flash.
But it's possible an expert could rule that out. To my inexpert eyes it looks as if the light source was large and close rather than being a
distant near-point source.
If lightning can be ruled out this photo could be very useful to UFO researchers.
