Iran and Iraq and Syria and Jordan and all the other enemies of Israel are going to face some... ahem... rather unfortunate consequences in the future. Certainly within this century.

You said "enemies of Israel" would face some consequences. Why Israel?
Why is Israel so special in your eyes? You think they have the best army or something?

Forgive my third thread of the day, but, to me, some sort of military action against Iran now seems sadly inevitable.

Call me odd [shut up] , but if Iran becomes another messy, watered down middle east mess as a result of the ‘west’ attacking, I would feel sorry for Iran.

Although Iran is clearly an expert at annoying the west, does it deserve to be ‘sprung’?

I would feel somehow sad for Iran.

Any opinions on this?

Yes, I would feel very sad if this was to happened.

Sorry? Hmmmm.... I really don't like that word. It always seem to have a bit of a condesending flavour whilst what I would feel is really compassion, empathy and a massive wish that I could get the US trigger happy military heads to STOP interfering where there interfering is NOT wanted! Why do they have to own everything? Why can't they just pull themselves towards themselves and live and let live!!!

I would feel pain for the innocent people that will be surrounded by phisical and emotional pain and suffering and I would feel rage on behalf of the children whos lives are still ahead of them. Some without parents if this happens.

Instead of really helping the world, the US ignores countries like Zimbabwe, dictators like Mugabe, who is running his own people into their graves through hunger and poverty and suffering. Of course, no oil in Zim, so lives do not matter. I have been to Zim when it was still Rhodesia, and boy this makes me sad. Yet the UN remain comfortably deaf and blind to what is going on there.

My stomach turns acid.

Enough already!

Nope not sorry for them at all. Mainly due to they are bringing it down on themselves by not meeting standards set to protect other countries.

So if they are bringing it on themselves by not meeting the standards set to protect countries, why aren't Israel being sanctioned for their secret nuke operation?

That and the fact they have threatened us by sending a ship off our coast to hit targets in the Gulf. Ok that`s enough for me save them the trouble and settle this problem remove the threat.

like the USA has not sent ships around the globe and off the coast of the middle east, anyway, do you actually think the Iranian navy fleet will do any damage if they were too send a ship off the coast of the USA? Nah..

Pretty simple stop threatening other countries, treat people fairly, and don`t harbor terrorist. That`s really not much to ask for or if you don`t, expect to be confronted by those with the power.

Which countries have the Iranians threatened considering they have not invaded any country for a very long time? You want to talk about terrorists, check out the spies who just got busted in the middle east.

Pretty simply they threatened us with that ship plain and simple and although it was a laughable threat it was a threat. Then there is the threat over and over of them wanting to destroy Israel.
I look at it like if they want to talk the talk then be prepared to walk the walk. So as to feel sorry for them sure if they didn`t talk the talk by threatening in such ways.

If they had good intentions with their nuke program why deny it being monitored. Every country near them would be affected if they took short cuts in this matter. I`m all for if any country has a Nuclear Power Plant they should have to be monitored for safety.

Then there will be those that cry well sure the US has nuke weapons and yes we do but that even is more reason we can dictate on just who we want to match us. Iran not being one of them. Why let them become a threat?

Take that ship as example it is being used as a threat but it isn`t in real scenarios. Sunk is what it would be but now you stick a nuke on it it becomes a serious threat. Sure they have the right but we also have the right to say we won`t let you match our power.
I see it as if they did get nukes it would be used then I could be totally wrong of course but I`m not for taking such a chance.

The simple answer to the question is this. If Iran gets a functional atomic bomb they will try to use it. Such a bomb going off in Tel-Aviv would kill Israel.

Reverse problem. Israel supposedly has several hundred first strike nuclear weapons. If a nuclear weapon goes off in Israel they will simply nuke as much of the middle east as possible before they disappear.. Put simply the middle eastern gas station to the world will be destroyed. And most likely would be off-line for years. The great depression that would result from $50 a gallon gas would probably kill off a good sized portion of the world's population through the resultant starvation, riots, wars and etc. You think China is going to sit around when they realize a billion Chinese are going to starve to death and they can't stop it? I hear communist party officials taste good roasted over an open fire. If the starving masses can wait that long.

2nd problem would be is that many bombs going off may cause a nuclear autumn/winter on the planet. A good sized portion of the northern latitudes could become uninhabitable. May even start a new Ice Age. Everything north of Omaha would be dead in 2 years. Oklahoma City in 5 to 10.

All things considered a defeated Iran sounds like a win for humanity. As of right now Israel has the world by "you know". And will gladly rip them off and grind them under their jackboots if pushed.
