I totally see your points and I think it is the debate of our time.I worry because the next step is private ownership of everything. All services including parks, public spaces, emergency services. We are pretty much there already. So if the public dont own anything anymore what do we have a say in? What would be the point of government? Might as well let a bunch of bankers run things openly which is starting to happen in Europe. Its not just a war on unions, public/private sector workers and small business. It is a war on democracy and it is the oligarchy openly telling us that we dont deserve a say because they know best and they are far more important and we need them because we would all be helpless without them. They failed, they want us to pay.But like I said,I agree,we also need to look at improving the public sector and eliminating waste, increasing productivity. If all the major players in the world agreed to raising the corporate tax level significantly it would seem alot fairer to ask workers to endure austerity. Corporations need us,we dont need them.Corporations/Trusts(robber barons) kill jobs and send them to third world countries, they hurt economies more than they help. They take unfair market shares and monopolise/dominate markets. We should let big banks fail and tax the hell out of corporations and put a limit on their max market share so as to ensure competition and opportunity in markets. And governments should keep and if need be,take back( Eminent Domain) all public utilities. We should never have let them sell our roads and parks. What can we vote on when we dont own anything? We will be completely beholden and at their mercy. We pretty much are already,we need to stick together.

Text But since when do bin men spend several years at university to attain a degree..answer they dont, please think about what you are saying. As i said in my deleted post, wait until i take my child away on a cultural trip (holiday) and let them try and fine me, for not having him available for school, i'm inclined to bill the council as it is for today.

I totally agree. Its like the stories of bus drivers earning three figure salaries that came out of Milwaukee during the fruitless Scott Walker protests.I think we get caught up in left vs right, conservative vs progressive, public vs private etc etc and caught in ideologies when talking solutions like capitalism vs communism vs libertarianism vs socialism ...but maybe with common sense and cooperation and an open mind we can take the good from each of them.Meld them into something that is fair and sensible for all of us. Bus Drivers are important but realistically they dont deserve three figures, most can agree on that.We can all agree garbage collectors dont deserve better pay than someone that is university educated. They make us think we cant fix isolated things like that or it will bring down everything and that its not legal but we can do anything, its called a decree or executive order. They pass them all the time on things they dont tell us about, they sure as hell can pass them if most of us agree. We can also tax the super wealthy. We are not helpless,we have the power, they make us think we dont. There would be alot that the majority of us could all agree on.I think we could convince bus drivers and garbage workers to take a pay cut and a wage that was more sensible,if not they could find employment doing something else.We could also identify and eliminate incompetent teachers.Fix the public sector and make it worker better as well as ensuring adequate pay, conditions and pension schemes.

I am not a public sector worker but i fully support the strike. As a previous poster said, a contract is a contract.

Plus, when are the MP's going to discuss cutting there own wages and pension funds?
Whoops, silly me thinking that "we are in this together" means just that, when infact it means "We messed up but your paying for it /happy face"

TPTB have already told the sheeple this,

The sheeple? What is it with a lot of ats'ers and their need to call the public 'sheeple'. Do you see yourself as superior to the 'sheeple' do you? Looking down on them from great heights are you, enlightened one?

I see those people differently to you, I see them as ordinary working people trying to fight for what's theirs, to call them sheeple shows arrogance and disdain towards them, creating an 'us and them' divide when there's already enough division as it is, though I do acknowledge you support their cause.

These people are at least trying to change something, what have you done? You've created a thread calling them sheeple, well done.

Why do you refer to the people as sheeple?

I know what the term means, I'm just wondering why the derogatory use in this situation?

You said that you support the strike but calling the people sheeple is not supportive.

This is the division the government are wanting, they want to pit private sector against public sector, even though we live on the same streets and share the same civil life and are all equally screwed.

Just more anti-Union bulls//t mate. Always been the agenda and always will be.

These people harp on and on about the public sector and Unions because they're trained to do so. It's born of spite and brainwashing.

Rather than people outside of unions who are working in the private sector saying "hey, we should improve our situation", instead they say "no, they should be dragged down to our level"

Complete morons if you ask me.

The US just did a swap to save the Euro for ten more days. The people of Europe are getting so many handouts from the government the Euro will fail in a couple of weeks if they don't reduce the handouts to their lazy, unproductive citizens living off the state and retiring as young as 50. It appears China said no to the EU.

The old European lifestyle is over. They have in fact emptied the piggy bank and are to illiterate to know it is empty. They cannot comprehend that you simply cannot get money from an empty account. They think all the state sponsored handouts materialized out of thin air. The depth of the illiteracy is staggering in fact.

You can strike, beg, yell, holler, scream, take a dump on a car, but you will never get any money out of an empty account until you put more back in.

I expect the EU will dissolve because their own people are doing this. The end result will be something they will not like, but then they caused it. You feed at the trough to long and the trough empties out. You can sniff and lick at it all you want but there is no more slop. You ate it all and never replaced it.

I am totally behind the strike action but IMO the strike will achieve absolutely nothing at all. TPTB have already told the sheeple this, they have said the strike will achieve nothing it will only hurt the economy. What the sheeple fail to understand is the mentality of the people they are striking against. Many of thr people dont realize that those in power are psychopaths, dko the sheeple really believe that these psychopaths are going to roll over because a couple of million go on strike?

The onky way to get what the people want IMO is to take those 2 million people on strike and go and arrsst those responsible for the mess we are in. And then demand a trail there and then, only shen tptb feel threatened do they take notice.

Im sorry mindwar, i felt slightly offended by your thread title.. You use the phrase "2 million + sheeple strike today". How can you generalise about them like that. You dont know anything about them individually, heck, i bet many of them could be members of ATS.
Theyre striking because they want fairness. Dont call them sheeple, you know nothing about them.
Sorry pal, i had to say something.

You lost me at the word "sheeple". They are HUMAN BEINGS, okay! Just because you do not agree with that particular point-of-view doesn't make the protesters any less valid. Every time I see or hear someone use that term it just screams "big ego, little sense of self, DEFENSE MODE".

TRUTH and good for you. The OP clearly had an agenda regarding people they cannot sympathize with. We need to erase this term "sheeple" from our collective vocabulary.
