This is the the second great step taken by the college students in Iran.

It is claimed that the house of the old fox has been burnt.

IMO the embassy workers should be escorted to the airplane and we should make sure they leave Iran.

Don't underestimate NATO's stupid actions. We know they wanna get this war started already, they just need any reason to make it seem like Iran was at fault.

If Iran took the UK embassy, Iran is at fault. NATO wouldn't need any other reason.

You're somewhat right. Thing is, the citizens took over the Embassy, not the government. We would need the government or military of Iran to take action in order for there to be a reason good enough for fooling everyone into believing an attack on Iran was necessary.

yeah...I know but I plan to work it off.

Anyway, Iran better not harm one hair on any of the Embassy workers heads and let them leave the country in peace.

If not...then UK has every right to kick butt.

I know most Iranian folks want normal lives..I've worked and known many its just crazy that the leaders (mullahs etc..)

will cause so much grief..its always that way through out history..always the damned NUTS are in charge!!

And scew it up for everybody...when will humans learn

Who knows if this is planned, impossible to tell. What my immediate thoughts are, this is not an excuse for war, but it will set in the back of many peoples mind in the west that these are 'bad' people. To be fair, no one would exactly enjoy having threats of death to their country, but I guess we need to assess it.

I doubt you'll have that smug attitude once the SAS have had their input into things.

I stated that in an earlier post. The possibility was raised that these "students" were paramilitaries, in which case the UK would be within their rights to respond militarily. The ball right now is in the hands of the Iranian government. If they recover the hostages and reclaim the embassy and turn it over to the UK, then things are fine. If they don't then the Iranian government can be held responsible and the UK can do what it sees fit.

"NATO" and even the "US" doesn't necessarily want to go to war (no matter what some think), in a monolithic sense... though certainly elements do...

NATO wouldn't do any rescue mission as I'm pretty sure there'd have to be all sorts of legal wrangling first and the UK would prolly rather do it on it's own, if it ever came to that...

It's a very far fetched scenario...

And that depends on whether the embassy staff are locals or not

If the hostages were still in the embassy, the UK could ask Iran to allow the SAS to retake the embassy. I wonder how that would turn out?

They could theoretically, but in practice, if that was the situation, they'd prolly just retake the embassy themselves.

It seems from what I have read and seen over the years that the students are very political and linked very closely to the regime hence why they are usually the ones to respond first.

I wouldn't call them paramilitaries but they certainly are part of the regime in the political and idealogical sense. In my opinion a similar context would be to say be the "Young Conservatives" or "Young Democrats" take over the Iranian Embassy.

It is a shame really since this will remove another avenue for dialogue..

@samy110, who tweets regularly about Iran, says it is not Iranian students responsible for the attack. Those who attacked the British embassy in Tehran are thugs FYI Iranian students R either expelled from Uni or in prisons! #iranelection

The official Iranian IRNA news agency reports that around 50 students managed to enter the embassy but that police used water canon to try to stop others entering.

Last news from inside Iran , Iran 1st channel news :

They were some students who have been taken out of the embassy by Iranian police.

I think this is a sign for the ambassador to leave Iran peacefully and respectfully.

sorry, i was looking for a reliable source. zerohedge blog is not something i would consider reliable.

i think you will find it very difficult to find any reputable source claiming hostages have been taken.
