I was quite sceptical of clairvoyants. Believed they were charlatans, conmen/conwomen, etc. Out to manipulate emotionally fragile people and take
their money.
My ex-gf on the other hand believed wholeheartedly in them, and went to see them every now and again. And each time, she would always come back with a
few A4 pages of detail she had written down. And it was usually the typical stuff you expect from a Clairvoyant - "you will meet a man in a grey
suit", "you will enter a large white building", "you will come into good fortune". All very vague, non-specific ............ basically stuff that
anyone could make up. But she lapped it all up anyway. She
was a bit emotionally fragile, and people like that will latch onto anything which
they think will improve their existence.
She always asked me to come along and I always refused as I thought it was a complete waste of my time and money.
However, on one occasion, she was going to a new Clairvoyant who didn't charge anything, and after asking me countless times to accompany her, I
relented. I didn't plan on getting a reading, but when we got there the clairvoyant finished my ex's reading and asked if she could give me one then.
So I thought .... no $$ involved, I'm here anyway, why not do it for entertainment value ...... figuring that with a healthy dose of skepticism, I
would pick out any holes in the reading this person gave me.
Well as expected, the reading started off vague. Few minor references to letters and numbers, few references to a healthy future, children, etc. Then
she stopped for a few seconds and asked me if I had any journeys planned over the next few weeks.
I did have a journey planned - a 250 mile drive the following weekend for a few days away - but I lied and said "No", just to test her reaction. She
insisted that I
would be planning to go somewhere, even if I hadn't arranged it yet, but that I mustn't go on the journey as something bad
would happen. And something would happen to prevent me from travelling.
So we left after that. I asked my ex if she had told the clairvoyant about my journey, she insisted that she hadn't.
Come next weekend, I was packing up my stuff at my parents house on the Friday night ready for the weekend. I had completely forgotten about the
Clairvoyant at this stage. Loaded my stuff into my car, hopped in, drove out my parent's driveway and heard a small noise from underneath my car.
Stopped, got out, and all the oil was running out of my engine down the street. Turns out the sump on my car had caught on the small peg which was
used as a stop for the gates at my parents house, and torn a hole in the sump. With no replacement sump available until Monday, that was my travel
plans shelved.
To this day, I can't understand how a peg sticking up less than a half-inch from the ground caught on my sump. My parents, family, visitors, friends
and myself have driven over that peg thousands and thousands of times without incident, even in cars which had been lowered. I wonder if something bad
really would have happened on my journey? I'm still sceptical of most money-led clairvoyants, but after that one incident, I thought there may be a
few real ones out there.
