Immunize Your Child or Lose Benefits, Parents Told, page

It appears that Australia plans on taking away your tax benefits if your child isn't fully vaccinated.

Starting July 1 of 2012, Australian parents will be stripped of family tax benefits if their child is not fully immunized.

Once the immunization alterations take effect next year, families who refuse vaccinations will also be refusing up to $2,100 per child in benefits.

Logic would dictate if your tax benefits are taken away, you shouldn't have to pay taxes, right? We all know that's not how things work though.

My concern is that this is a step towards mandatory vaccinations. Some of you may have noticed I have a distrust for vaccination programs, but I still respect a parent's right to vaccinate their children. Many parents worry about unvaccinated children posing a risk to their kids. My recommendation for this is that if a parent is worried about this they should home school their child, or maybe unvaccinated children could be required to be home schooled. No parent should feel pressured to vaccinate their children.

I know not everyone will agree with me on this but I see this as parents being bullied into having their children vaccinated. This seems like blackmail in my opinion.

You are welcome, it is a scenario that I would never wish to face without a back up plan. It was one of the scariest times when many of us thought that we may have been forced to take the birdflu vaccine, it was not something any educated person wanted to face.

They never seem to mention that it takes years to develop vaccines against various new strains and yet miraculously discovered one during the bird/pig/man/ flu scare.
