Lost photo of UFO found

This scanned picture is pretty good.
I zoomed in with just using explorer and it clearly shows there is detail on the underbelly of the object.
The cap of the object is reflecting the light, giving it a cloaking appearance.

Thanks for sharing this picture and sorry for the loss of your father.

At some point you should consider sending the actual photo to a credible researcher on ATS to corroberate your story. Then you could send it to someone who does professional photo analysis. If it passes those tests, then I'm not sure what else the skeptics could camplain about....

I would be happy to do that. Who would I send it to? Is there someone on here with credentials that we could all agree upon?

My dad was raised in this area, so I assume this was sent from someone he knew well.

I have seen a photo of similar craft with similar backgrounds from this area in UFO books, but never from this position relative to the mountains and tree-line in the background. To the best of my knowledge, this is an original never- before-published UFO photo printed on Konica 100 paper (see back). Enjoy.

I had my son scan the photo...it appears further into this thread...page two or three, I think.

So, if Mom nor Dad wrote the note on the back...

Then, is it safe to assume the actual "friend" or original photographer wrote it?

Based on that assumption, if you took a picture, and intended on dating it (on the back), why the hell would you write "circa 1970" instead of exactly when you took it?

I think this proves at the very least that the note writer wasn't behind the camera....

(as if that matters) I love ATS!

No, I really don't have anything else. Dad wasn't really into ufo's or anything like that so I just assume it was a photo someone he knew from his childhood (dad grew up in the Uniontown area of Pennsylvania) who took it and sent it to him because he thought it was cool.

I have to say, the saucer in this photo has a particular feature which resembles the saucer I saw as a child. My personal sighting was in the same area in roughly the same time frame. I wrote about my sighting on ATS a couple years ago.

Can you be more specific about where your father grew up please? My sighting was in a small town named Penncraft which is about 10 miles west of Uniontown.

Thanks for the photo. One may assume they have seen this before just because there are thousands of photos out there. Does not necessarily mean this is the same one for those thinking that. Lets just wait and see the high definition version.

Allegheny had a really familiar ring to it for me in relation to UFO phenomena, did a cursory search - its seems that both the Kecksberg incident and the Flatwoods monster were from this same general area. Very interesting.

I just wanted to say that I think everyone here is being very respectful to the OP and although I myself am skeptical and await a more hi-res scan of the photo, I'm just diggin the vibe in this post.

Can I ask what your father did for work? Because there might be a connection as to why he might have been handed a photo like this.

There are absolutely no credible UFO researchers or specialists on ATS; don't you dare even consider allowing the original out of your sight. What you've shown here is more than enough to say the photo is credible, that should not be in question. As to what it is IS questional.

Very cool pics I think they are legit,I often wonder if I had to take a pic of a real live flying ufo on one of the best camera's available today and I nailed the focus and the light settings basically taking the most perfect ufo shot ever I can guarantee you that there will still be responses to my posting of said picture that will go something like FAKE FAKE Oh it's just been photoshopped and the sad truth of the matter is that technology is so advanced with regards to photo manipulations etc that it is just so hard to tell fact from fiction sometimes,and this plays right into the hands of the people that want confusion to reign supreme.I still think old fashion photo's rock

Jeff Ritzmann used to do photo analyses on ATS and the owners thought he was credible, but only thing that would be helpful to analyze would be a negative.

Since all the OP has is a print, the high quality scan they get at Kinkos will probably be good enough so there's no need to send the print out.

As just addressed, without a negative I don't think there's much value in sending the print out that won't be addressed with a good scan.

Regarding what skeptics have to complain about, it's this: Even if no evidence of fakery can be found in any analysis, the story behind the photo is as important as the photo. I don't sense any deception on the part of the OP, though he did state some things in the opening post that he doesn't really know to be true, like the origin of the photo. All he can really say is he found it in his father's belongings. Can I presume the handwriting on the back isn't his father's handwriting or he would have noticed that?

In any case, we don't know the date of the sighting (not only do we not even know the date within a year, but the "circa 1970" notation implies that we aren't even sure if it's really from 1970 or some other year near 1970), who took the photograph, who else besides the photographer might have witnessed it, or the origin of the photo to a more specific location than just "Allegheny mountains", which is a pretty large mountain range. All of those details that accompany any UFO photo matter, perhaps even more when a photo pops up after 30-40 years.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with tineye but I did a search with that for a similar photo among 2.5 billion photos on the internet and it found zero matches. (I used the scanned version for the search).

We can't interpret that to mean the image hasn't been seen before, as Tineye's database is far from complete. But the lack of a match on Tineye does tell us something, even if that information has limited value.

I say fake!
No one is going to write "circa 1970" on a photograph like that....
