On a side note have you thought of copyright of the picture?
Could earn you a little money for the UFO book writers/researchers.

You can't copyright someone else's picture!

Anyway, this is the best ATS thread for ages. Genuinely quite interesting.

Having said that, it does look a little like a hat - does anyone know anything about hats dating from that period in that area of the US?

Am I missing something here?

First you posted this photo, and as you can see there is no top to the supposed craft.

Then the member Unknown Soldier posts this one, and as you can see there is a top to the craft.

Now you say you scanned your original photo and this is what you post;

Which is the same as the pic posted by Unknown Soldier.

So what am I missing here?

The picture used by Unknown Soldier was scanned and enhanced. Suggest you read this entire thread.

You apparently missed one of the pages prior to that, where he posted a better pic of it. Perhaps reading the entire thread would help?

Can't wait to see the higher resolution pic!

I have read this entire thread, thank you very much.
Maybe I missed that, would you be so kind as to link that post?
Thank's.

ETA:

If you read the entire thread I did ask the member Unknown Soldier but never got a reply, where were you then?

The first image has a lot of reflection and is basically washing the lighter areas of the image out. I do believe this was pointed out earlier in one of the OP's posts. (reflection most likely from a flash)

Watermark? Illusion? Not sure what to think.

I'm not sure what that is in the corner...maybe a person? The actual photo is less clear...but not a smudge in the finish, as from an angle there is no change in surface glare.

This looks very similar, however this one was taken in Nuremberg, Germany.

Knowledge? Common sense? Attention?

Sorry, couldn't resist!

The original was a photo of a reflective (glossy) photo - the top was hidden by the 'shine' from whatever light source was used.

i55.photobucket.com... Link of photo used. You can find that link on page 2 of this thread.

That photo was enhanced by OP's 20 year old son.

Obviously, if you really had paid attention, you would have known.

I read the entire thread and I feel I should also tell you to go back and reread the thread.

You'll find your answers there. I think? Unless everyone but you is missing something.

He said the photo had a glossy finish, that may or may not explain why the top is missing in the pic where he is holding the photo and it appears in the scanned pic.

Either this is the greatest close up photo of a UFO

OR

Another HOAX

I know very well of a Hoaxer in that area of the Allegheny Mountain's, Murraysville, PA area. WE call her "Orb Queen" i will not speak her name for it is blasphemy. Probably unrelated but I would not put it past her to perpetuate her hoax. Because she will do anything to market her product in these circles. Just search "Orb Queen" on youtube to learn more.

The problem i have with this is frankly this "if real" would have been huge news and probably would have been the most famous photo during that era. So my question this "friend" of your dads sent him this photo yet did not go to the media or some UFO research organization? AS if it were meant to be a post card.

The good old a friend of a friend knows a guy story, always turns out to be a hoax.

If it is too good to be true then it probably is.

Probably a photoshop, BTW i do believe in the UFO phenomena and am a witness. But my gut tells me this is a hoax. I could be wrong and hope that i am. Good luck with the pro scan.

Just my 2 cents

Wow after looking at the pic you provided and the pic in the OP, they look the same?
In fact, I think they're the same!!!

The trees are exactly the same.
This is a different photo than the OP yea?

ETA:

Has the photo you provided been proven to be a fake?
Could you link the source to where you got that pic from? Would like to view it, thank you

Great work by the way.

If you look at this post I was asking that ages ago.

I admit I am wrong I hadn't seen the post in page 2

Seems none of you saw my post earlier either, when you could've told me then.
Thank's for linking page 2 also.

The first image is a photo of the original photo.

The second image is a scanned image of the original photo, and is not reflecting light - from a flash.

Do you understand now? Just take a look at the top of the trees and how it seems as if they have been cut / trimmed by being washed out by the reflection.

(Nevermind, above posters cleared it up)

I have just been looking at Meiers photos and the shadow of the UFO looks similar. One thing that is nagging me though this object must have been stationary in order to get a clear shot. take a look at meiers photos and let me know what you think

I disagree. Every single 'Billy boy' photo looks like a small object close to the camera. I'm leaning towards the same conclusion for the photo presented in this thread, but I reserve judgement until we see a better image to work from.
