NASA's latest Mars Exploration Mission, a supercharged and multitasked rover called "Curiosity", is scheduled to launch from Cape Canaveral today, in about 5 hours!!

Mars Science Laboratory

The launch is rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 26 from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. The one hour and 43 minute launch window opens at 10:02 a.m. EST.

This is an exciting prospect from NASA as this latest mission will be equipped with 10 scientific platforms which are geared to investigate possible life and/ or the former presence of it upon Mars.

I suppose they will switch off haarp during launch this time after the phobos craft failure

Didn't the russians have some kind of UFO incident with phobos, makes one wonder why that craft failed.

Curiosity? ? I honestly hope mars doesn't have a population of cats. Could be perceived as an act of war.

This news should have most ATS members glad it isn't about war, fraud, protest, etc. So far all I've been delt on this thread is a Joker and a Riddler...

Isn't anybody CURIOUS as to what new phenomina and anomalies we'll be getting with this newest rover?...

I am interested tonot see what they'll find. I think there is more to mars than what we know. The discoveries that they have made in the last decade alone are interesting. I do feel that a manned mission is long overdue. If mars was populated I'm sure they think our race is that of sentient autonomous beings.

I'm less interested in the launch as I am with the actual mission.

Besides I'm deer hunting right now. In a tree stand. No time to watch videos.

Curiosity Flying on its Own! Sat, 26 Nov 2011 04:46:18 PM GMT+0100 The Curiosity rover, encased in a protective shell and heat shield, is safely on its way to Mars now that the Centaur upper stage has separated from the spacecraft. Cheers and clapping are filling the buildings here at Cape Canaveral following the successful launch.

Hooray!!! .... was slightly anxious that it might get stuck in earth-orbit like the Phobos-Grunt mission not too long ago

The success rate for these missions is getting better all the time.

Anxious to see what the landing will he like. Hopefully it goes smooth.
