Iran has arrested 12 American CIA agents, according to an influential Iranian politician quoted by the country's official news agency.

Parviz Sorouri, who sits on the powerful committee of foreign policy and national security, told the IRNA that the arrested agents planned to strike at Iranian interests with the aid of Israel.

Sorouri said the spy network aimed at damaging Iran in the security, military and nuclear sectors.

The source is described as "an influential Iranian politician", and though many like to ignore this fact, Iranian politics are just as complex and intricate as those anywhere else (if not more so!).

So, what many use to attack the entire nation is often nothing but talking points from local politicians playing to their constituents in order to garner votes... just like everywhere else!

Imagine if we were to take some of Michele Bachman's statements as though they were official U.S. stances?!?

So, until more details do follow, this has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Of course, the "war against Iran"-machine has been ramping up lately, so any such developments should be watched carefully.
