Yay; its another study from the wise men in the white lab coats!

This one has determined that the act of walking through a door causes people to forget things.

Walking through doorways causes forgetting, new research shows

We’ve all experienced it: The frustration of entering a room and forgetting what we were going to do. Or get. Or find.

New research from University of Notre Dame Psychology Professor Gabriel Radvansky suggests that passing through doorways is the cause of these memory lapses.

“Entering or exiting through a doorway serves as an ‘event boundary’ in the mind, which separates episodes of activity and files them away,” Radvansky explains.

“Recalling the decision or activity that was made in a different room is difficult because it has been compartmentalized.”

I wonder if the effect is amplified by walking through multiple doors. That may explained why Don Adams was so confused all the time.

Are they just creating studies to explain away that they've been dumbing us down for the last 100 years??

I wish walking through a door erased my memory..

Seems to be true. I think it works both ways, you also remember when you walk through some doors. Sometimes I find I have to retrace my steps to remember where I left the keys.

My cat, a fat little butterball, acts like she's starving to death every time we open a can of cat food.

Cats are first rate actors so it just may be that your cat is hoping that you walked through a door sometime after feeding her and is hoping you are the one who forgot.

I'll bet cats caught on to this years before this scientist ever came up with the idea.

My wife must run into a whole lot of aliens.

She loses her keys at least 3 times a day. I guess the MIB theory is just as plausible as the idea that she may be incredibly stupid.

At least its safer for me anyway.
