Loneliness is something everyone has to face in their life. But the solution is not to surround yourself with people, that will not cure it, because
you can indeed be very lonely in a sea of people. It makes no difference whether you live in New York or on a mountain top.The feeling of loneliness
is something you must overcome, it's a negative un useful emotion. I'm Buddhist so naturally I approach it in a Buddhist manner . Yuttaddhamo, can put
it best.
They're is nothing wrong with being alone, solitude can be a great thing.
if your wondering what meditation he speaks of...
waling meditation..... he has some more videos if you wish to see them, also he has an ask a monk series which i watch
regularly.
edit on 23-11-2011 by XxRagingxPandaxX because: (no reason given)
He does put it well in the second video, the balance of faculties.
I have tried to be mindful, when I was using cognitive behaviour therapy, but back then it was hard to catch yourself with your thoughts before they
manifested in emotion.

I know many people who have never felt lonely - like me. I live on my own but I never feel lonely. But I do sometimes feel alone - which is different.
For example if I dream of a past partner or my parents, for a split second on waking, they are still with me. But the realisation soon hits like a
brick that there is no one. It's the only time I think of it to be honest but it is a terrible feeling. There is a void which can't be filled with
friends or any amount of activities or socialising. And I very much doubt that meditation would help either.
