It's funny you should ask, because last week I had a similar experience, although not as long and drawn-out as you had.

I was standing in line at the grocery store in Hobbs, New Mexico. Most of the people there are poor and many struggle just to make ends meet. It is a dusty desert town, supported by the oil industry and the local Indian casino. I was tired from shopping and there was a long line ahead of me. To pass the time, I started people-watching, as most folks do.

I suddenly had a weird out-of-body feeling, and I locked eyes with a family who were walking by. They were obviously poor, exhausted, and overwhelmed. I was overcome by a feeling that I can only call love for everybody...that family, the lady behind me who kept hitting my backside with her cart as she was talking on her cell phone, the kid who was screaming a few aisles away, the clerks who seemed tired and distant.

It was so overwhelming and hit me so hard that tears welled up in my eyes. I am usually a person who keeps to myself (I have Asperger's), and I wasn't on any meds that cause euphoria. It was a weird, out-of-the-blue experience that left me a bit stunned. Love for strangers is definitely something I have never felt before. I thought perhaps that is what God feels for everybody.

Anyway, maybe it is something in the air.....if it is, I hope it infects everybody this holiday season.

Wow. Are you guys kidding me ? This is first time I've been to ATS and man I am hooked to this site for past 12 hours.
When I saw title of this thread, I was thinking what it could be about. But when I read all posts and experiences, it just explained what i am going through since the start of this year. Bad feelings, loss of appetite, Weird dreams, staying up late etc. I don't feel like doing all the things that I loved to participate in rather I want to stay in bed and cover my face and keep dreaming.

I went through a lot of threads and topics across ATS today, and it was exactly what i was looking for. This is just the beginning, I know i will be spending a lot of time with all the interesting people here.
