How about a compromise? End the wars, keep our STRATEGICALLY PLACED Bases. And "Speak softly but carry a big stick."

hey,
How many countries have military bases on American soil? I've tried looking it up but cannot seem to get an accurate figure.

How many other countries are the world’s greatest super power? Yup….just us!

I bet if Germany (or any other ally country) was the world’s super power we’d damn sure like to have their base here!

Any country whose government doesn’t want us there can ask us to leave and we will oblige. Can you name one ally country whose government wants our bases closed?

So your saying super powers should have an empire?

Ron Paul is right, our foreign policy was obviously the reason for 9/11

"For over half a century, Muslims in Palestine have been slaughtered and assaulted and robbed of their honor and of their property. Their houses have been blasted, their crops destroyed. And the strange thing is that any act on their part to avenge themselves or to lift the injustice befalling them causes great agitation in the United Nations which hastens to call for an emergency meeting only to convict the victim and to censure the wronged and the tyrannized whose children have been killed and whose crops have been destroyed and whose farms have been pulverized " - Osama bin Laden May 1998

"We swore that America wouldn't live in security until we live it truly in Palestine . This showed the reality of America, which puts Israel's interest above its own people's interest. America won't get out of this crisis until it gets out of the Arabian Peninsula , and until it stops its support of Israel." -Osama bin Laden, October 2001

I don't agree with Osama and Al'Quada's tactics, BUT, it IS a fact that US foreign policy was the motive and cause of 9/11. Directly. There are no" if" "ands" or "buts" about it.

The average age in Palestine is 17 years old, when we support Israel who bombs the crap out of a region made up of children, obviously the US government can expect retaliation from that community because that is just the natural reaction. Everything is a product of nature, including societies. There are actions and reactions in every natural system.

Our policy of the "revenge reaction" only ads fuel to the fire and continues the vicious cycle.

Time for peace, time for Ron Paul!

Never saw another candidate treated this badly in an interview, that guy was a total d#ck and tried to spin what he was saying

Wow it surprises me that people still buy the troops abroad for domestic safety con game. The only reason(s) we have troops abroad is to have strategic regional influence, intelligence, cover for drug smuggling (military cargo planes are the way to go), military pressure and control of resources. For defensive reasons it is counter productive, so RP is totally on point with that.

I flat cannot watch interviews like that without getting completely red in the face. How was that productive? What purpose did it serve to take clearly laid out talking points and pervert and distort them until they retain nothing of their original essence?

That interviewer isn't stupid...surely he knew EXACTLY what Ron Paul meant in what he was saying. Anyone with half a brain could pick up on what the man meant. I am so sick and tired of this kind of spin cycle garbage!! It is no wonder people don't know their #$$es from a hole in the ground half the time. That was not news, it wasn't constructive discourse, it wasn't informative, it was playground 7th grader nonsense.....gah! I need some air. I shouldn't have watched it.

HEY WORLD I AM AMERICAN AND I DO NOT ENDORSE THIS CRAP!

Thanks for posting this. I am absolutely voting for RP now and TPTB can thank that crusty jack wagon interviewer for it.

Last time I checked the government makes decisions on where the military goes, not citizens.

Well, citizens are actually the first step in the chain of command...in a Democracy...

Look at the outrage by Aussies about our presence in Australia. Australia was declared a Major non-NATO Ally back in 1989. I trained with Australian Marines during the 90’s. I spent time in Turkey, Spain, Crete, Israel, Bosnia, Italy, etc. It was a great experience and we all learned a lot about how each other operate. Their governments fully supported that joint-training and many joint operations.

So we should stop this because some of their citizens don’t like it? Maybe they should take that up with their government?

I'm sure their governments are quite happy to let us foot the bill of security while on their soil.

Thats probably why you don't see any of their bases over here.

They'd go broke paying for them...

...sort of like what were doing?

I firmly believe Ron Paul would end most operations overseas and I think that would be detrimental to our national security. I love the guy but he scares me in that regard….that’s all I’m saying.

Why are these overseas operations so important? Is it because of the terrain?
I would think defending our own borders would be more important!
What aspect of the training cannot be reduplicated here in the United states?

Why not have them come over here and train? That would be great for our economy!

They would be bringing in jobs with all the building that would have to be done....you know bases, airfields bridges for the tanks... or whatever!
And don't forget the soldiers who would buy things from us, and spend all kinds of money!!!

Oh my, this is a great idea!!! We could get alot of revenue from something like this!!!
Yes! Get them all over here!! Big Huge Bases! More soldiers!!! Busloads!!!
With more of their lovely money!!

As long as they are not pointing their guns at me everything is great!!!

Wait....there are two problems with this...hold on a minute....

One! This is already being done...only, it's in reverse...were spending all our money over there!!!

And, Two!!! ...well...I won't mention the places where were gun pointing...

That presenter time again tried to twist his words and put words in Rons mouth. The presenter betrayed his agenda by doing so. Ron handles it as always like an educated conscious thinker. Truly a smart person one needed to set the country back on course.

This interviewer spat insanely vague and misconstrued statements to Paul, only to be responded by specific and concise answers. The interviewer would then respond with another vague statement to blatantly look bad. "You said 9/11 was out fault!" Using extreme generalizations like that shows they are trying to tell the public something about Paul that they want the public to know. Shame. Handled himself so well, i'm very impressed. He really tried to hammer it in our heads that we are in extreme debt and we really need to cut back, then the interviewer started whining about PARKS. Come on. Retarded. I'm sure if the people really loved their parks, they would be able to care for them on their own

It's funny. I myself am an asset manager for government housing. The entire department is very crippled and limping around on its last leg. The current wait list for housing is 5 - 10 years. How many people is the department REALLY helping? An extremely small unrecognizable percentage in relation to the people that are actually homeless. If the money used for programs such as these was put towards to issues like unemployment we would see some serious changes!

I appreciate the fact that there are still a lot of people on ATS that know solid good sense when they hear it and are supporters of Ron Paul. However, today with the post pertaining to OWS I am all the more convinced that a larger number of ATS Members are Socialist, Communist, Fascist and are agreement with the New World Order agendas; that they certainly are not Capitalist, do not agree with or support our Constitution and certainly believe they are "Owed" something..from education to free healthcare and given the chance, they would take from me what I have worked hard for an earned.

Well, this note is for you who I can easily say are want to be in the Obama-Hilary Camp. It will not matter who is elected or re-elected where you are concerned because all any side really wants from you is for you to be good little debt slaves; you will not be raised up by bringing everyone down to your level and as it has been throughout history, the Cream Will Rise To The Top and the crud will be used for fertilized and to make bricks.

So, go ahead do your worst; you will only be burning down your own houses and what little you have and if you don't end up in a FEMA Camp or prison or shed your blood for nothing on the streets, you will find yourselves being slaves to the same or another group, because that is what you are..dumbed down slaves who never appreciate the true privileges you were given.

I honestly think the thread title is very misleading. I do not think Ron Paul was "ambushed" at all and sadly these are the type of questions he can expect from a Public that is completely misinformed about many of his ideas and policies.

This website is a perfect example of it. There is a lot of support for Ron Paul on this site as the ATS polls have shown, yet it never fails, in every Ron Paul thread you will see comments like, "He wants to kill off people and take away their Social Security" which is completely untrue.

So I do not feel that Paul was "ambushed" at all, but he clearly made his point and shut down his interviewer over and over and over again.

One thing everyone keeps forgetting....we simply can't AFFORD the cost of having military all over the world anymore. Much is wasted on bureaucracy, cronyism, and no-bid contracts that endlessly drain our tax money while we debate on chopping a domestic program that only costs a few million. We could chop billions without compromising our military's effectiveness by just re-evaluating the whole structure and getting rid of the corruption and corporate welfare (ridiculous contracts).

Many countries like us in there because we groom certain key folks in their governments, ie, prop up dictators, etc. while the rest such as Germany enjoy us dumping all of our money over there.
