Yes, there are ethical physicians.
Just as in all fields practiced by man, there are good and bad people.
I have been assigned to no fewer than 30 different hospitals through out the U.S.
Some of the worst are in Bakersfield CA (While treating another patient, I watched in horror as Dr M sutured up an MVA patient w/o radio-graphic
studies of his arm. The pt used his arm to get up, and the broken glass in his laceration severed his radial artery.), Martinsville IN, and many
gobermt hospitals (military to Indian Health Services).
There seems to be a city where the bad ones filter down too. But don't think I'm painting with a broad brush here. There are many many good
physicians as well.
Some of the best that I have had the pleasure to work next to are in Lancaster CA (just outside Edwards AFB), Sacramento CA (just outside of Beale
AFB), Great Falls MT (just outside of Malmstrom AFB), Albuquerque NM ( just outside of Kirtland AFB), South Bend IN, Indianapolis IN, Denver CO (just
outside of the NSA West HQ), and here, in Dayton OH (outside of Wright-patt AFB), and Richmond IN.
Personally, when I talk to my patient, I explain things to them in their terms. I speak clearly (don't get me started on the foreign MD's that have
been here of ten years, and you can't understand a single word they have said), I openly oppose capital punishment and abortion. And are you ready
for this. ..I pray with them as well. Yes, I pray with them. It doesn't matter to me if they are Muslim (yes, I have prayed with a Muslim), Jew, or
Christian (I have offered to pray with other religious patients, but they declined. I can respect that.).
I even debate with other MD's if a certain study or procedure is necessary or not.
But that's just me. That's how I practice.
And that's all I have to say about that.
I wish you well friend, study hard, listen, and follow your heart and conscience. Your practice will follow the same way.
