HUGE APOLOGY - I did yet another search for this AFTER posting my thread and discovered that a thread was already made 3 days ago. Somehow my posting seems to have 'nudged' the search engine to find the previous thread. I'd better not delete everything and leave this page blank, but hopefully a mod will delete this for me. Thanks and sorry.

NASA have released a time-lapse video of the Mars Rover's 4.8 mile trek across Mars. Article here:

www.dailymail.co.uk...

Mars rover Spirit spent five years, three months and 27 days on a mission of discovery across the planet before getting helplessly trapped in soil.
Now, the spacecraft's long journey has been compiled in a fascinating time-lapse video using almost 3,500 different images taken by her front-right camera.
Viewers are given an overview of her mission from the moment she woke up in January 2004 to her demise in April 2009 - all in under three minutes at 24 frames per second.

Here is the route the Rover took (picture taken from the same DM article:

There is a video at the end of the article, but here is a Youtube link, too:

I don't think there is any new or surprising information here, but it's fun to watch the progress of the Rover as it pootles about across Mars.

Thanks - I couldn't work out how to do that.

I just found a previous thread (see apology added in my first post). Here is the original:
