So, if Bush was re-elected do you think he might try to push something like this (you'll have to enlarge it to read it):

www.pbs.org...

I don't know if those from Texas know about this and could give their input here? Being that he is so "religious" do you think he would try and push something like this on us if he were re-elected. I can't believe he even did this while Governor...it beggars belief.

Very nice analysis of what Bush has in store for us here: Texas GOP Platform Points

Theocracy Watch has some dead on analyses about the Texafying of America.

Watch out Blue states! The Texas Taliban are coming!

Please note this is not your usual Bush bashing rhetoric.

This is a REAL threat any remotely Anti-Authoritarian Pro-Libertarian should ARM THEMSELVES to defend against.

This is the "neocon" corruption of the conservative movement exposed for what it is... and everyone should fight it.

Thanks for the link RANT. I'm sure I will be spending some time reading all the information on the site. Americans need to be aware of these kind of activities or we will lose even more freedom.

PS- I like the way you think

Maybe he'll add an extra day to the week and call it "Jesus Day"

While I'd worry if this was passed into law, I'm not going to worry so much about a simple 'proclamation'. Presidents do this kind of thing all the time, for all manner of groups and demographics.

Here are a few from President Clinton:

Proclamation for a National Day of Prayer
frwebgate2.access.gpo.gov...

Proclamation for Jewish Heritage Week
frwebgate6.access.gpo.gov...

Proclamation for American Wine Appreciation Week

frwebgate6.access.gpo.gov...

Proclamation for Year of Gospel Music
frwebgate1.access.gpo.gov...

Proclamation for Gay and Lesbian Pride Month
clinton4.nara.gov...

I checked Bushie's presidential proclamaitons and couldn't find a Jesus Day, but did find:

Proclamation for National Sanctity of Human Life Day. hmmm....sticky?
frwebgate2.access.gpo.gov...

The Jesus day was declared when he was governor of Texas.

Yes, that was my point. He hasn't done a similar 'Jesus Day' at the federal level. But there are lots of other 'days', issued by presidents of both political parties, that some demographic might find questionable.

As long as none of them have implications under the law, I don't really have too much of a problem with it.
