Actually, he used critical thought, whereas you failed to...

The tank in Tampa (I live very close)

news.yahoo.com...

However, I am going to say that this was meant to happen. We are supposed to get angry and riot, the psychopathic people in charge need us to be in a small place in high volume. Makes control ALOT easier.

Because it's mace. Not a taser, not a gun. Suck it up.

Then they should have been arrested. Not assaulted with pepper spray.

You pepper spray or taze when the individual is violently resisting or posing an imminent safety hazard to those around them. Neither of which was even remotely the case here.

So the big bad police officer doesn't know how to arrest someone who is just sitting somewhere without pepper spray?

If that's the case, this guy has no business being a cop.

And I come from a whole family of cops. Two of them who've seen this clip said that exact thing. So that's one cop to another, not just my take on it...

They where blocking a through fair, The policeman had every right to remove the people blocking the common path, (as I am sure he and several (verbally) others did multiple times). peaceful protest does not include interfering with the passage rights of the people commuting.

These individuals where attempting to make maryters of them selves. They where doing these actions to get attention, although they where breaking the very laws the supposedly protect.

Watch the video, what are they really blocking? Are they causing harm to anyone? Just ask yourself, was it really necessary to use pepper spray? Is that what's taught in police academy these days? How dare you defend that coward's actions? You really need to get abused by a LEO soon for no reason then you'll finally wake up. People like you make me sick.

Edit: I don't want to be a stickler for grammar or spelling but it seems you are using "where" thinking it's "were". C'mon man, that's just basic English. Also it's martyr not maryter.

Lol.. To protect and to serve my ass. That's out the window, because my ass smells! Hmm. I wonder.. What would the police do if they seen someone they knew who was also a cop, taking part in the protests. Would they treat their own this way? Yes they would. Fifty cops in riot gear + pepper ball guns, all for a few hundred SCHOOL GOING ADULTS. Get real people. It's more then obvious the cops salaries are being paid by big corps. I'm just happy I live in a happy go lucky town where the cops have no egos and actually protect and serve.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

I'm going to leave it at that

The founding fathers are rolling in their graves. I get non violence...I support non violence but if the other side who support a violent movement and don't back the non violent protestors nothing is going to happen.

The officer should have been cornered. His radio and gun should have been confiscated and he should have been stripped naked and told to take a walk...

Why all the comments about the pepper spray? Yes it's bad, whatever.

But did anyone actually watch it till the end!? The protesters won! The cops left!

This should go viral! What an amazing inspirational video!

This sends a clear message to any government, that this oppression will no longer be tolerated! Change is coming!

Now is the time!

I agree, the restraint is amazing.

But they are doing it wrong.

If 15 people get pepper sprayed for sitting down peacefully, I expect 15 more people to sit down. And again. And again. Cops are trying to escalate violence so they can use excessive force, hence ending the protest and sending a message. Don't believe me? Then why are they dressed in riot gear?

They can't end it if they have to deal with more and more protesters who are calmly sitting. And the more peaceful protesters that are treated violently by the police, the stronger the movement becomes and the weaker the police get.

If the protesters truly believe in their cause and are not just there to "be cool" and have a story to get them laid at the next frat party, they should be willing to put themselves in harms way. Cops might say they are, but we all know there is no danger to them at a peaceful protest.

It's sad that Americans have become so timid. I'm as disgusted with "Linda P.B. Katehi,
Chancellor" as I am with that PIG.
Self defense is a Human Right. I wonder if that PIG is now working out. He looks soft to me. I live in the general area, I know a lot of folks that would be hunting that PIG if one of their relatives was treated that way.

I'm down with those who say "nothing new here". What IS new is that now it's more visible. Everyone has a breaking point...when will the passive American's reach theirs?
It's possible this is intended to provoke a violent response. I offer "It is better to live one day as a lion than a hundred years as a sheep".

Today's protesters are a group of kids with I-pads, I-phones and digital cameras chanting "shame on you". I'm sorry, it just seems so silly.

They call violence conducted by the government law, but that of an individual crime. Sad really.

The "shame on you" chant was in reference to the cops assaulting, needlessly, kids exercising their first amendment rights.

This is perfectly legal.
When asked to move and stop blocking a walkspace they did not move.
They were told they would be sprayed.
He held the can up to show them he was starting.
They remained there so they can be martyrs.

It's not about "gestapo", "inciting a riot" or "illegal cops". It's about common sense. If you see someone with a gun and he tells you he's going to shoot you if you don't move... would you move? Of course. Same theory here.

This isn't the first time this has happened and it will not be the last. If they had sat in the field the cops would have done nothing. The students did this to themselves.

Honestly I find the video a little bit funny...I mean those kids are obnoxious sitting there complaining....I would have sprayed them too..."shame on you" and "we are the 99%" are lame things to shout while a cop is just doing his job...actually have a message and maybe people will pay attention, as of now the entire OWS movement seems like a GIANT BITCH FEST....I appreciate water, food, housing...investors can choke on their gold for all I care......give a monkey a video camera and see how long he spends looking at himself and videotaping other monkeys #ting and eating, not for very long at all....these protesters are pathetic, all I have been seeing in these videos is a bunch of people staring at their little hand held video capturing devices and whining while other whining people record them...really bizarre...maybe its the solar activity screwing with the twenty somethings brains combined with the radiation from the cell phones and, oh why not throw HAARP into the mix, eh???

Could have been worse.
Anyone remember Kent State?

On May 4, l970 members of the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of Kent State University demonstrators, killing four and wounding nine Kent State students. The impact of the shootings was dramatic. The event triggered a nationwide student strike that forced hundreds of colleges and universities to close. H. R. Haldeman, a top aide to President Richard Nixon, suggests the shootings had a direct impact on national politics. In The Ends of Power, Haldeman (1978) states that the shootings at Kent State began the slide into Watergate, eventually destroying the Nixon administration. Beyond the direct effects of the May 4th, the shootings have certainly come to symbolize the deep political and social divisions that so sharply divided the country during the Vietnam War era.
