"The People" as a whole group majority rarely support anything a government does.

The governments and politicians are taking orders from the international corporations.

Look at any legislations from any country and try to find something, anything, that actually has a positive long term impact on the majority of citizens.

Individual nations or all nations combined does not matter.

The NWO via central and international banking is the way TPTB have gained control.

"Government's" job is to ensure population control to an extent, by any means possible.

It's logical and expected move from Russia. The country allready lost billions of $ worth contracts because of the "intervention" by the West in Lybia. The same thing would happen with Syria and Iran if they didn't at least try to help. So yes ... US would do the same thing if their economy was in danger, especially in these times It's all about the business ... even "revolution" (which didn't change anything except the dictator) because of the business opportunities in there ..

Instead, what actually matters is that we have an opportunity to consider the Russian angle on the events unfolding in Syria, and how they play into the potential outcome.

By the way, the Russians are there, have been for years, and have a base there, which is currently under massive construction.

You can forget any overt U.S. military strike in Syria... The US strategists aren't that stupid, and the real window of opportunity on Iran is closing fast.

The USA and the west are getting perilously close to losing ALL influence in the region to China and Russia... Whether that is good or bad is entirely debatable.

The Russians aren't entering, they are THERE, with more on the way.

I spend 30 seconds reading this thread and then I spend about 3 hours researching all things about Russia naval and military capabilities through wikipedia and other sites. Am I the only one to do this?

Back on topic: this is an interesting turn of events.

Any news updates on this? CNN still hasnt picked it up.

Syria has been a client state of Russia since the Soviet days, so I don't think it's any secret that they are heavily invested there. Renovation of the Tartus base has been going on for years, so we could consider the question of Russian warships in Syrian waters somewhat moot for that reason.

Of more immediate interest is whether Russia is positioning itself for active military intervention in Syria, which is not as clear. They have repeatedly and openly stated opposition to NATO intervention, but whether or not they would actually go to war over it has not been established. They claim not to be protecting any regime, which hardly amounts to unwavering support for Assad.

And so here we are, discussing the possibilities, but unless I missed something (and I could have), the actual possibility or nature of Russian military involvement in the Syrian crisis remains an open question.

Their support, defense against UN sanctions, and there presence in Syria and the scheduled completion of the navy base in 2012 are pretty good indicators.

We'll see.

This borders on off topic subject matter but I started it so, from time to time I have had glimpses or precognition, I do not expound on them in the public arena because they fall into the unexplainable even for me at times, this one was just one of those types of ah ha moments that I chalk up to future events which unfold and to keep an eye out for.

All I know for my own awareness in what shows me when and where to be 'more' alert is a flash of recognition about not worrying until Syria gets invaded or becomes part of an unfolding pattern of world events. That flash came 10 years ago but seems like yesterday to me.

Face it after 911 things really became jumbled up politically, militarily, and the msm focus on red herrings, and so much awareness came into peoples lives and they began to get more involved in world events which affect them personally, even if it is only from an armchair type awareness, this also takes courage and an open mind... For the most part people have been able to bury their heads in the sand if they choose to do so and carry on as if everything remains the same as long as they hold to their ideas and way of life.

In this flash it was more a total understanding of the reality which faces everyone when Syria is engaged as the surrounding countries moved many weapons of mass destruction during the Bush administration and the occupations to Syria.

Even though they may not seem to be main players they hold much more importance than most realize when it comes down to the final curtain.
