Seattle activist Dorli Rainey, 84, reacts after being hit with pepper spray during an Occupy Seattle protest on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Westlake Park. Protesters gathered in the intersection of 5th Avenue and Pine Street after marching from their camp at Seattle Central Community College in support of Occupy Wall Street. Many refused to move from the intersection after being ordered by police. Police then began spraying pepper spray into the gathered crowd hitting dozens of people. A pregnant woman was taken from the melee in an ambulance after being struck with spray.

Those silly hipsters are dressing up as old women apparently. I wouldn't put it past those evil socialists to have paid that woman to PRETEND this happened. Are those even real cops?

I'm sure the image fails to capture those people robbing and raping the lady on the way to the ambulance where they stopped to assault some EMTs.

/end sarcasm

Pretty crazy stuff. I started a thread on the video that shows this happening earlier today.

My thread is here:

Seattle Police Pepper Spray Peaceful Protesters [Video]

I see you had trouble uploading the pics from that source too. ATS wouldn't accept it

Here is the video.

Beware of foul language. Lot's of swear words.

Opps, I did search for the title but not the specifics, my bad. If this is a dupe of the same information might as well close it.

Bah I've had that tab book for years and still can't nail the arpeggios in the billy breathes solo. Damn you Trey.

Anyways, I guess the media blackout isn't working as I've already seen vids from NY. Those are scarey, the police actually pushing reporters away. I guess they don't want to be on film trampling the constitution.

No worries, the search engine never works right for me anyways.

The elderly lady and priest were not mentioned in my thread until later on. My OP focused on the video itself.

Thanks for the info even if it's duplicated. I didn't know about the earlier thread. These videos need to be spread far and wide... even my family is laughing at how these people are being treated. Has the media machine really brainwashed people that bad? It's like people are happy we're giving up our rights...

Where can I find these videos? I would very much like to see and spread them if possible.

Nice that these old people are getting a chance to relive the 60's!

Looks like they are having a great time!

People should make signs with that picture on it and a caption below - "is this democracy? Is this free speech?"

It's amazing that people just accept this type of behavior from police as normal.

Okay guys, support Occupy or don't support Occupy but the games are over and the playtime is behind us. Elderly people, Children, Pets and others who cannot or will not handle violence or conflict well HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS NEAR OCCUPY at this point.

Every camp is a potential combat zone with EACH OTHER if not the constant threat of police raids. The whole movement has taken a dark turn and heading into ugly places as a group and at full speed.

There is SO much negative about OWS today from polls to perverts but I'll just focus on the topic for the thread here by saying I simply have NO sympathy for the people in the cross fire any longer. A week or more ago? It was a mix... Some camps were peaceful and even positive in atmosphere and some were already war zones. Now EVERY ONE OF THEM can go from peaceful singing to violence, ambulances and CS gas in moments and with *NO* warning whatsoever.

Those who are there now bought their ticket to the party with their eyes wide open. They're in it for better or worse...and arrest is a near certainty. Injury is oossible if not likely in many locations and a snoot full of CS gas to clear the sinuses just goes with the territory.

OWS.... Show some CLASS and some good common sense. Be the bigger people here and have SOME compassion. Stop using the most vulnerable in a twisted attempt to get headcounts and look bigger than you rightly are. Gently suggest the weaker members DEPART. Don't cynically put them into positions where getting hurt is almost a given and gee whiz....is that Occupy people almost waiting with cameras to cover it?? The public has just about had all it can stand of Occupy. Grow up guys.

Actually only a few have taken dark turns, the one in Toronto is going quite lively, the council told police they can't kick them out

The POTUS is conveniently out of the country while these "clean up" operations are underway.

The police are insane.--------------------

So these people marched right into the middle of an intersection and refused to move even after being told to by police. What part of this qualifies as a "peaceful" protect exactly? Obstructing traffic is against the law. "Peaceful" protest takes place on the side of the road, not in it.

Ugh.... Yeah, you're right. I appreciate you keeping me honest about it with a little reality check. There are, in all fairness, camps that are still holding a line of decency and civilized behavior and standing without compromise on that. Interesting how a majority of those are outside the United States though, isn't it?

I'd made a post last week regarding camp security and the need to just make citizens arrests on the camp thugs and criminals to hand to police for prosecution. I believe it was Calgary that had someone reply to that by saying their camp did precisely that on a sex assault and hadn't had anything since. Forgive my fuzzy recollection...so much happening in such a hyper-compressed time frame, it's hard sometimes.

Anyway.... As tempting as it might be to kinda ignore what you said and carry on like I hadn't been busted making a generalization.....you are right in what you're saying about it not necessarily being EVERYONE. Just the most high profile and best known ones at the moment.

I heard about this earlier.

If Seattle had remained completely non-violent, the city wouldn't be able to claim that protesters were being violent or agressive towards cops. This and other situations would have been galvanizing events.

I've been saying it for a week now here www.abovetopsecret.com...

Why does it matter that it was an elderly women?

Why does it matter if it is a vet that gets hurt?

Because OWS is just trying to gain emotional support against the police...because they have failed to gain support based on their motives/goals.

This protest has lost it's way...it is now about protesting against police and protesting the "right" to occupy.

OWS, you have co-opted yourself.

I think our elders are capable of making their own decisions on where to be. Further, you miss the point that this behavior from the police is uncalled for - it's not the protestors picking the fights, after all (in fact, #OSeattle has been pretty low-key this whole time.)
