letsfaceit,

you are ...ignorant.

You are saying it's less important to do "the little things" (even if its just 'a puppy') for the sake of the "greater goals"...which is NAIVE and will bring you no-where.

In reality, it's far more important to start with changes on a small, maybe even personal scale...EVEN if it's something "trivial" as saving a puppy or helping one single guy out.

You..keep dreaming about changing the world....but DOING SOMETHING is the real deal...not sitting back in your chair and make plans and theories about world changes.

Otherwise you look as foolish as those in that monthy python movie...who didnt do anything else than endless philosophing and debating INSTEAD of actually changing things in the world. Changes dont happen "on a grand scale"...they happen with everyone, right there, in every day situations, right now, in reality.

If you support free universal healthcare for everyone, i'm in. However, if you say let's do charity and create an illusion for ourselves which makes it looks like everything is alright, then i'm not in. Because everything is not alright. If this is ignorance, then i'm ignorant.

Anyway, looks like everybody is satisfied with occasional charity and nobody wants the real change.

I'm off this place...

Free universal healthcare comes at a cost to someone. And free universal healthcare for people who can afford it, is charity and giving it to people who could afford it if they went to work like human beings should, is charity.

The government has charity already, people are abusing that charity and people who actually need that charity are using it, but there are some falling through the cracks. This is not an OWS thread. This is a thread about someone helping someone else out, which is exactly what you propose. A person did a good deed and you don't like it, but you never asked the OP what kind of job they had or what their personal views about life were, you just flipped over a kindness and steered this toward socialism.

Would you care to pay my medical bills for me? Or would you rather pass it off onto society at large? Wait a minute, that is what is already happening. Society is taking care of each other through their taxes.

One simple thing. Our childlike stubbornness to give up the luxury of private cars causes a chain reaction of evil things to happen including fight/killing over oil resorces, traffic accidents and global warming. Everyone of us know this, so why not do something about it first? If someone says no to something like this, then no amount of charity can cover their faults.

I use busses and subway and very happy with it.

I take it you cant afford a car. No disrespect intended, there are those of us who enjoy the liberty of being able to travel without restrictions on where, when, and how. From reading the various reactions to this thread, I t is nice to know there are simple people left. Simple meaning that to help some one is an act of kindness that is rarer these days than it should be. They are not expecting anything in return for what they give but the pleasure it gives them to see some one else happy. These people are few and far between.I only hope that, that man would do the same for you if the situations were reversed. I dont think this thread is about money or lack thereof irs about "What has happened to us?" and" When did we stop helping each other?" and" Why?"

Why do gangbangers and muggers also take buses and subways and shoot and kill on them? And for some of us, private cars are more than a luxury, but a necessity. I take it you have never lived in the country, and funny thing, the need for resources and oil also run the tractors that raise the food that you consume every day. So maybe you should stop eating, we all stop eating because tractors need oil that leads to wars and global warming. Semi trucks need diesel to transport the raw resources from farm to store, so people who live in cities can eat.

Good for you, it's great to see people like you still exist. I feel good after I buy an extra vitamin water for the co-worker I open with every morning, or helped this guy who ran outta gas push his car outta the way, drive him to his work to grab his check, then the bank, then walmart for a gas can, to the gas station, then finally back to his car, you have topped both of those feel good feelings!

Since oil has been usable our earths population exploded outta control. We use it for everything. Can't cook without gas or electricity (unless ur going caveman style with wood/fire), can't get to the market to buy your food, couldn't hunt, or anything because there was no way to build and transport all the materials to those locations. (guns, food, cars, etc)

"Oil, the greatest aphrodisiac ever known"

That would make a decent documentary title.

It's very encouraging to know that good hearted people can still make a difference. I'm sure the money you spent will come back to you in some other way. What if everyone did this every day in one way or another. What a world that would be!

90% of Veterinarian's and Dr.'s wouldn't help anyone or anything if they were not getting paid. Most of these people (Dr.'s & Vets), do not go into the field to help others, they do it for the money. They're all nothing more than greedy green eyed monsters with inflated ego's. My 2¢......

This is a very lovely thread and a very nice thing you did but .... A civil war because a guy could not pay the vet bill?
What?
