reverse quatrains

Is it just me or does Nostradamus quatrains seem to make more sense backwards? Take for instant Century II quatrain 64. This one should be familiar to most people.

Mabus then will soon die, there will come
Of people and beasts a horrible rout:
Then suddenly one will see vengeance,
Hundred hand, thirst, hunger when the comet will run.

It just seems to make more sense to me this way

Hundred hand, thirst, hunger when the comet will run.
Then suddenly one will see vengeance
there will come Of people and beasts a horrible rout
Mabus then will soon die.

The quatrains all seem to look a little more right if read from the last line to the first. What is your opinions? Check out some of the other ones that you know about and let me know what you think.

Great thinking outside the square, rem.

I am uneasy about this Mabus - great if he is gone.

As for Nostradamus - his sayings seem to have a lot of application to our present state.

I do not think that Mabus is what everyone is thinking it might be. Most people think that it is the thrid antichrist but I have found nothing in the quatrains that support it. I think that it is something more like NAFTA. M would be Mexico and us would be the US. The only problem would be ab being Canada.

Here are two that I have chosen to test.

V.79

[All] sacred pomp shall lower its wings
at the advent of the Great Legislator.
He shall raise the humble, harass the rebels:
earth shall not see his like [again].

V.80

Ogmios shall approach great Byzantium:
The Barbaric [Arab] League shall be driven out:

Quatrain 1-87 – This one is just creepy whichever way it’s read.

When reversed reads;

This is when air-vessels will turn-around to a new course.

Hmmm.....I have to question the veracity of the second quatrain I posted. Nostradamus lived 1503-1566. New York wasn't given it's name until the 17th century. Anybody know anything about this?

The same quatrain 1-87 - but a different translation

Earthshaking fire from the center of the earth,
will cause tremors around the New City:
Two great powers will war for a long time,
then Arethusa will redden a new river.

Ennosigée feu du centre de terre,
Fera trembler autour de Cité neufue:
Deux grands rochers long temps ferôt la guerre,

I'd say this one is likely the more accurate...but just look how different it is from the fist one I posted. No New York - no flying vessels

Ab could be Canada, if he miswrote the "d" backwards as a "b".,

I have read that Nostradomus wrote in several language at once. So, one sentence may have Latin, Hebrew, German, and Greek. He may have written these with the Hebrew context, reading from the bottom of the page, from right to left, and it was just translated wrong, all these years!

Accidentally on purpose!

I do know there is a (Ray Mabus)...who is currently (The United States Secretary of The Navy). Considering...all that is going on...with wars etc. - I wonder if this may very well be the (Mabus) Nostradamus was talking about.

Also...I want to say that I don't think (Mabus)...is the anti-christ. I think perhaps that (Mabus) may be a warning sign.

Nostradamus says:

"Mabus will soon die, then will come
A horrible slaughter of people and animals
At once vengeance is revealed coming from a hundred lands
Thirst and famine when the comet will pass"

"At once vengeance is revealed coming from a hundred lands"...that sounds like WW3 to me.....and (Ray Mabus) is the United States Secretary of the Navy....so it is possible there could be connection. Maybe his death will be a warning sign...of things to come.

You realize that these quatrains were written in this order for cadence as they were being read.
( In the original french btw )
Changing the order of the sentences does not change the meaning he meant to portray.
Also you should realize that more than likely Nostrodomus was speaking about the nobility of his time and events in his lifetime. Much scorned upon by the church, his writings had to be obscure in nature or Nostrodomus would have died much earlier than he did after having spent some time in prison.

Just a case of bad translation.

Well, bad...
Since its written in a couple of languages, some at the same time, it gives troubles to translate.
The original translation speaks about a "New City", some people thought that must be New York...


But until Nostradamus gets reincarnated, well never know for sure..

(Btw: Nossy was known as a drug addict... how intriging I think his verses are, i sometimes have the idea Nostradamus himself didnt even know where he wrote about )

Well, AB COULD stand for Alberta in Canada, which is the host city of the proposed Keystone Pipeline deal to the U.S. and it was just announced that Mexico wants in on the deal...Holy crap, sure gives you something to think about. I myself haven't considered your theory but it sure is an interesting one, thanks for sharing!

This is pretty damn interesting as I have never seen this twist put to the quatrains...

Here are a few I found that were much better backwards...

Forward:
At the foundation of the new sect,
The bones of the great Roman will be found,
A sepulcher covered by marble will appear,
Earth to quake in April, poorly buried.

Backward:
Earth to quake in April, poorly buried.
A sepulcher covered by marble will appear,
The bones of the great Roman will be found,
At the foundation of the new sect,

Forward:
Mars, Mercury and the Moon in conjunction
towards the south there will be a great drought.
An earthquake will be reported from the depths of Asia,
both Corinth and Ephesus then in a troubled state.

Backward:
both Corinth and Ephesus then in a troubled state.

It seems that there is indeed an intentional backwards interpretation to these quatrains. Most all of them make sense forwards and backwards but so does most anything...

EXAMPLE:

Forward:

When I get off of work
I will go to the market and pickup groceries
After which I will head home
To cook a tasty dinner.

Backward:

To cook a tasty dinner.
After which I will head home
I will go to the market and pickup groceries
When I get off of work

Although both forwards and backwards sentences relay a "sensible" message they are are relaying completley different messages. In the Forwards there is one linear progression of events that are all related to eachother. In the backwards there are appear to be two seperate and unrelated events. One event where I cook a tasty dinner and head home (implying I cooked dinner somewhere else) the other where I will go and pick up groceries after I get off work.

This is really interesting and has some implications on what exactly nostradamus is trying to say depending on which way you read it. It could be completely different than what we have traditionally thought.

In my above post I gave an example of how changing the "order" of the sentence you can significantly change what is interpreted. So yes changing the order of the sentence can and does change the meaning, of course based on interpretation.
