The human mind is a strange thing. The human mind under pressure and sealed with denial like a pressurecooker is an even stranger thing. All sorts of steam manages to escape. Bad decisions get made. Dark cranial blossoms unfold. Things get...unsettled.

Now Japanese government is going into the same insanity. They are holding a marathon relay race in Fukushima city. At this moment when this article is being written, teenage runners are running. The radiation level is as high as mandatory evacuating area in Chernobyl. Thousands of people called the administrators to stop the race but it ended up started. Runners are 13 to 31 years old. Most of them are teenagers...To attend at the race, they made the girls sign on the contract. “Even if I have health problem from this race, I will not sue the promoter (= Japanese government)”

This racecourse is shut down to prevent race horse from being irradiated. Those teenage runners are treated lower than race horse for Japanese government.

Never think you know what depths the human mind can sink to.

That's messed up. Why would the japanese government organize this? Why would this even be allowed? Neither party has anything to gain from this. Very strange.

Is the Fukushima City your post refers to the one outside the 60km circle (3rd circle) at about the 10:30 position on this map?

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/8d0991bd2bb4.jpg[/atsimg]

If so, I'm not seeing evidence of such a high level of contamination at that location. Have you got any specifics? It looks like there's a little contamination in Fukushima city, but not a lot, though contamination can be spotty, so I'm wondering if it's just a little more contaminated at the site they are talking about, and if so why wouldn't the just decontaminate that site?

That's pretty far outside the evacuation zone.

Last I heard they were thinking of expanding it to 19miles up from 12

Wow, just bloody wow.

These Japanese officials know no bounds when it comes to their persistance in utilizing the "radiation levels are safe" propaganda.

The brain truly is a sponge and it's more than willing to sop up anything and everything that gets thrown at it... hence the reason why propaganda is so successful.

And how far is the site this race was held at from the disaster site?

(I think the answer is on the map I just posted).

They probably mark the race route with signs like this so people will know it's safe.

I don't trust the main stream media in Japan any more than the one here. Perhaps less. Thanks for the link to the diary site. I was reading one and found this:

I sometimes receive questions from people living out of Japan.

“I must go to Japan soon. Is it safe ? What should I do ?”

These are my answers.

- Japan is not safe.

- Don’t go to Chiba or Saitama or further north. Tokyo is the boarder.

- Don’t trust geiger counter.

- Make the stay as short as possible.

- Do not drink tap water and milk.

- Don’t eat Japanese food. Eat only imported food. (Never eat Sushi)

- Wear a mask when you have to go out.

- Narita airport is in Chiba, where is in hot spot. Know that you will be exposed to an extent.

- Don’t touch soil,grass,and the rain.

- Don’t sit down outside ,especially when it’s windy.

- Pollen of 50000~70000 Bq/ Kg Cs will fly from Feb to April. Do not come to Japan then.

Now thats what I call "boots on the ground actionable intel".
Like the blogger said, he doesn't trust his Gov. either.

Wow,what an incentive to win a race.
The faster you run,the less exposure to radiation you have.

Wait, you've got me confused now. Wasn't Fukushima was at the center of the disaster? In fact, it was the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant that caused this whole mess. I was quite certain Fukushima was right on the coast, at the spot where all the radiation was coming from. Or maybe I'm just misinterpreting your post and map.

no - fukushima city is inland over 40 miles from the powerplant - its the administrative capital of fukushima prefecture [ county ]

Yea that's what I meant, it seems that this race isn't the real concern but those still living very close and drinking contaminated water. This is to save face like the dude that drank some "puddle" water from the plant (yea right) I am in agreement that this seems to be overblown.

I'm not quite sure how the race saves face, but at least we agree it appears to be overblown.

I mean, people still live in Fukushima city. They don't appear to have much in the way of direct contamination, but like all Japanese, they probably have some concern about radiation levels in local food sources, etc.

Diary Entry

I think this Guy is a little bit Otaku,
why he is not doing anything like escaping, save Children, bomb Tepco, etc?
I really like what he is doing but sometimes it is nothing more than Gossip,
Misinformation and Distraction from the real Problems!

Tokyo is at the moment safe and not polluted by F`Shima.
There are some spots where the Radiation is high/ too high
but this is very small compared to the size of Tokyo!

I went a few days ago to Nikko/ Toshigi Prefecture, of course i took my Geiger with me
and collected information via; blog.safecast.org...

The Radiation increased a little bit, higher thatnwhere i am now,
but the Alpha-, Beta- and Gamma-radiation stayed always under 0.35uSv/h
this is acceptable (for People above 25 and not Pregnant)!

Tap-Water is not tasty at all and need to be filtered,
the Radiation is "not Detectable" atm and i think this is correct
because here are to many People who can do strange things
like testing Water,
there is no Report atm about Caesium and Friends in the Drinking Water!

Why i should not trust my Geiger?
I have 3 and all of them showed the same amount,
two of them are new and fresh Calibrated!

And of course you can sit outside and in the Wind as well

The Marathon is a different Issue,
i think it was wrong that they was going on,
but afaik. not many People showed up!

But F`Shima is still dangerous
and need a 24/7 Surveillance!
