Found this. Thought all should know. The insect drones are getting smaller and more life-like. Many uses come to mind.

Insect-sized surveillance drones could be quite dangerous seeing as how they will be virtually undetectable and indistinguishable from real life insects.

You're partially correct. This version is from the 1970's and sits on display at the Spy Museum at Langley, Va these days:

If that was what they called a prototype over 30 years ago, I can only imagine what they actually have in the classified tool box these days. The top of the line models are probably no larger than a fruit fly.

I was kind of hoping someone would take a good look at the powder blue dragonfly that I was able to personally capture and photograph. It 'visited' several days in a row in a place where there are no rivers, streams, water etc. and seemed happy to sit still for a photo session. Looked like wires in the back of the body. The only thing that threw me was its' agility in the air. Have searched for bio-robo but have been hit by a veil of secrecy. In other words, take the elements, the wings, that can't be duplicated and set the micro-chips within the real thing. Instead of a human being, as portrayed in movies, with computerized attributes, why not a fly with the same or a dragonfly? This would give the best of both worlds.
