House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the Republican leadership’s tether to the Tea Party, flutters the hearts of the government-bashing, budget-slicing faithful with his relentless attacks on runaway federal spending. To Cantor, an $8 billion high-speed rail connecting Las Vegas to Disneyland is wasteful “pork-barrel spending.” The Virginia Republican set up the “You Cut” Web site to demonstrate how easy it is to slash government programs. And he made the Department of Housing and Urban Development the poster child for waste when he disclosed that the agency was paying for housing for Ph.D.s.

But away from the cameras, Cantor sometimes pulls right up to the spending trough, including the very stimulus law he panned in public. Letters obtained by Newsweek show him pressing the Transportation Department to spend nearly $3 billion in stimulus money on a high-speed-rail project—not the one he derided in Nevada, but another in his home state.....

I'd say it's more support and proof that both Democrats and Republicans alike are no good crooks and all but a precious few from the entire Congressional swamp need thrown out on their ear next election...and the one after that...and the one after that. Until they get it. Then we can stop just voting against every incumbent down the line, regardless.

I agree that we seriously need to oust the majority of the politicians we now endure. But what's your opinion on the Tea Party's candidates seeming to just fall in line with "Business as usual" mentalities?

I'm not convinced either way on the two sides (There could be more, of course) I see here...

1) The cronies successfully invaded the Tea Party...

okay, maybe. Anything is possible right? Perhaps one or two did?

2) The Tea Party (at the top) knew this all along and played the sympathetic card on the rest of them.

Also possible. This movement is what, two years old? Supposedly grass-roots, and somehow in 2 years gained all this greatness? That's either pure genius, or corporate funding.

in either light, it's very disappointing. I actually like the goals of the Tea Party as well as OWS (Call me a moderate, it's not profane

). i think that if the two merged and took on the best qualities of each, you know... TP knows the LEGAL way to do things and OWS has the unbridled drive and mass human barricade-ability... That the poor uber-rich widdle wall street tycoons, Fed goons, et al would seriously pee their pants.

So I really don't know what to think here.

Short answer is, Cantor is a hypocrite. Longer answer says that this stuff goes on every day on the Hill. It should be prohibited.

I think thats his point. There is no difference between a big spending dem or rep. A link should have been posted though.

OMG .. Are you telling me that the Tea Party politicians are two faced lying, conniving bastards hell bent on spending as much public money as possible directly to their own special interest groups??

And here I had a Renaissance of faith in politicians! I truly, truly believed that these politicians were the uncorruptable types, a bastion of hope for all other peaceful political movements that we CAN change the system with votes!

Nah .. just effin with ya .. ALL politicians are Liars. Thieves. And Whores.

Yeah, it's all good. However I really did have hope for the Tea partiers and OWS. I was looking at it as a grass roots blitzkrieg...

Politicians: Gee, do we stomp the hippy freaks into the pavement or elect a Tea partier and brainwash them? What's our budget again? Oh yeah, silly me NO BUDGET!

I'd rather sit back with a beer and see who wins but i don't think any of us are going to be able to "watch" much longer. I view the TP and OWSers as the final attempt and fixing it peacably. If they fail, only those with ample supplies and guns may survive.

Sad.

Others, yeah, I found the story interesting. Especially that most times you hear only good about the Tea Party and then this.....

The more things change the more they stay the same....
