Grab and go disaster, family and bug out bags. Imminent stay put disaster, fill tub and as many other containers as possible with water.

If it were truly a disaster, and I had to leave.....I dont really see how filling the bathtub would help. Anyway....of course I would take my wife, hopefully the pets....and as the saying goes--- as long as there are deer in the woods, and bullets for the rifle, I will survive.

the first thing when you run to save from your house?

My DAUGHTER. Nothing in this life is more important than that. My Daughter can not be replaced or bought, returned for a new version I'll take her with all the defects she comes with. If saving her,involves my life being lost, the honor is all mine.

I think this is a good question to keep asking ourselves. It doesn't have to be a doomsday scenario but a natural disaster could unfold very quickly and with little warning and you may have to leave your home with nothing but the clothes on your back.

So it is smart to always have a bug out bag ready to go - pre-packed with extra clothes, flashlight, some ready to eat food and water. We had flooding last summer here in Des Moines which happened very fast and I remember some apartment complex people being given 5 minutes to evacuate. Well, that is too late to start thinking about packing a bag.

What would I take?...that all depends on the situation. A lot of stuff will get thrown in that back of the pick up truck initially if I have time or just grab the BOB if I have no time,

If the SHTF, I would grab my BOB and go to the designated meeting place to meet up with my husband. As far as pets are concerned, we have 5 cats- they would be turned loose, as they were feral to begin with and can survive on their own much better than I could feed them. I love my cats as much as I love my kids, but let's face it, in a true all out scenario, you have to provide for yourself first- everything else is a bonus. If in a stuck at home situation, I would hunker down, get together as much water as possible and wait it out with my pets. I know it sounds harsh to turn the cats loose- but I'd rather give them a chance in the wild, than have them locked up inside my home, starving to death. I really hope that this situation never happens in my lifetime, but I'm prepared if it does.
