I have fervently supported Anon for a long time on this forum and in real life. But recently I have been discouraged, and I think I have found a good solution.

Problems with Anon as of late:

-Recently there has been a FLOOD of videos on YouTube made in the "Anonymous" style that are clearly meant to discredit the movement. These videos are claiming Anon has made "facebook viruses" and other untrue claims, and it seems there is not much anyone can do to stop it. These videos are successfully discrediting the movement.

-This been able to happen because no one is showing their faces, so the people who post these videos do not have to take responsibility for what they are saying.

-Anon has no leaders, this is good a bad.

SOLUTION

Although I am sure most people who support Anon, and OWS, and that sort of thing, agree that there should be no ONE leader, I think it's time we each start to be our own leaders.

This means making YouTube videos and what not using our real faces and names. That way, people have to take responsibility for what they are saying. PLUS, people watching will see that we are real, and normal, people. AND that alone will hopefully encourage other people to start speaking their minds as well. Also, if you happen to be saying quite literally "revolutionary" things, by showing your face you show you are not afraid of the government, because you shouldn't be. The people are the government.

I am in the process of producing a YouTube video where I wear a suit like in the Anon logo, but I take off my mask at the beggining of the video and state my name and the fact I am no longer Anon. I then proceed with my message. I hope to have it done tomorrow or the next day.

People shouldn't be afraid of being judged or offending people for speaking the truth. Especially if you really believe in what your saying.

I have already been speaking out under my real name through my FaceBook, and I have gotten some unexpected "likes" from my friends.

Oh, and my name is (edit, apparently that's against the TOC), I am no longer Anon, feel free to add me on FaceBook if you want.

Basically, the video below sums up how I feel:

This is embarrassing. You really don't understand Anonymous at all. It's not a group with a set ideology. You can't say you support them, unless you support everything because not everyone in the hive agrees. Also edit out your name before the mods do. Against T&C. You do realize if this was posted on certain anus of the internet sites you would be getting messed with on principle right?

I understand the concept of anonymous, but the general public doesn't, and they wont anytime soon. They think its a just hacking group, not a concept, which is really what it is(a concept).

This is my - "whatever, even though I didn't get any stars, flags, or many replies, I still think this is a good idea" face. Notice my use of a "TSA baggage inspection notice" card and placement of world map in background

Oh well, I am just trying to brainstorm. Even if you don't agree with my idea in the first post, I would like to here why.

Cheers to all...

I've followed Anon since their days of protests outside the cult of $cientology, I've supported their ideology and their actions (mostly).
But I agree that they are, as a movement, losing credibility.

I say that not because of the fake YT videos put up by government agencies attempting to discredit them - because most intelligent people can generally tell what's genuine and what isn't - but because of a large group of them attacking random sites in an effort to gain points amongst their peers.

I work from home due to illness, my internet business is my only income, but I recently had a site of mine hacked by a person connected to an open FB group with thousands of members who actively seek out sites to deface with their rubbish. Many of them are aligned with Anon.

They think it's fun, just internet graffiti. But for me fixing it takes hours of time that I just don't have. I had over a year of work invested in that site, but because they came along and trashed it to impress some complete strangers I had to start again.

I fully understand that the actions of a few do not represent the many, and that's a strength and a weakness. But it seems to me that the idea of Anon doesn't actually need any fake YT videos or MSM propaganda to weaken it. There are plenty of people who call themselves part of the movement destroying it themselves from within, and for nothing more than worthless internet points.

I feel you, I work online from home too. I am guessing you are a BHW member too?
Thanks for your input on the issue.

I think its best that Anon and OWS remain leaderless and faceless.

The reason anti-OWS/Anon want a face and a name to attach to these movements is because then they will have someone to blame and point to.

I say it's best to keep it as it is. People will ridicule no matter what, and let them. It keeps them busy!

Yeah, I suppose you may be right. Hatters gonna hate. Oh well. I am not sure if I am going to give up on my original idea or not, I don't mind changing my mind sometimes. Thank you for the input.

Lol losing credibility? Anonymous never really had any. Just a loose coalition of chantards that downloaded a skiddie program in between looking at child pornography and building fursuits to wear over their diapers.
