I have noticed at least twice this year that CNN-published articles have had their title changed, likely from someone higher in the ranks' order vs.
the person who originally hit the publish button, to make a story seem... less likely to make people upset about what's really going on. We all know
CNN is horse# at this point, but this is really shady operating.
I know this because I will see an article title cached in an RSS-feed equivalent somewhere, click the link, and the article will magically have a new
title.
Example from today:
Occupy encampments cleared with arrests changed to
Protesters arrested as police clear Occupy encampments. The former implies reality,
the latter makes it easy for people to assume that only some arresting occurred during a clearing out of the parks (maybe just some bad apples causing
trouble, like you know, wanting to freely assemble).
I think they're still tweaking that title:
www.cnn.com...
I really wish I could remember the last time I saw this, as it was far more blatant, but I've since forgot. Basically an editor/journalist (whatever
this B.S. job title is these days, since few are doing REAL investigative journalism at this point) will publish an article with a title that is
blunt, which calls someone out for some evil, and then it will get edited to sound far less accusing/controversial.
Anyone else have examples of this? Either way... just wanted it to be known.
