When alone we sometimes say things aloud that we would never say to someone else (I could kill that guy!, for example) and often those things are not accurate, but a natural way for our mind to deal with emotions. Carl Jung wrote extensively about the subconcious and Shadow side of our personality, and Freud about our Id - protected by the superego.

It is very natural for our animal instincts to come out as a way of dealing with anxiety, for example, as a 13 year old kid your Mom says to take out the garbage and inside your mind somewhere you imagine stabbing her... you never meant any harm to dear old Mom, but your mind will fill in imagined behaviors for how you feel, at 13, when someone takes away your freedom or power. Your Superego will protect and hide that base emotion and the kill you idea never leaves our mouth.

BUT... as stated above, when we're ALONE sometimes that superego filter is "off" and we might just yell at the laptop, say things to Dick Cheney, or whomever that could get us in trouble if anyone heard...

Here-in lies the problem,

The government IS LISTENING!! Through cell phones, laptops, little secret flying bugs or laser trackers if you're the lucky target.

How GOOD (sic) is their software that tracks us? What things do they take out? If I say aloud that I'm going to kill that mother-[snip]! How much does the government tracker software get from us? If you're a minister by day but really let your temper out at home,.. will that come back to haunt you?

finally, what is done with all this enormous amount of data they have against us? This is a big area of study but I mostly want to know if what I say in my private home will have an outer affect on my LIFE, simply because someone is listening but didn't have the technology to correctly understand my meaning or intention.





Why did I get "snipped" if I didn't put anything but asterisks?? hmm... a perfect example of my thread?

I once heard from a guy who had multiple top level clearances that they have software that searches grammar for obvious word switches - the example he used if someone used the word "hamburger" instead of "bomb". The sentence wouldn't be grammatically correct and correct in meaning if would-be terrorists discussed meeting up... did you get the hamburger? ... meet me at 6 for delivery.

If he could even mention THAT imagine what he didn't mention!

(by the way I knew him well for many years, knew where he worked - I'm not talking some blog he-said she-said. This was around 2001)

But on topic, TV is basically a massive psycho-analytical experiment imo, if you're actually worth your salt when it comes to Freud. Jung, symbolism etc its pretty easy to see, on most British Broadcasts where 'canned laughter' is used its actual function is not to act as a 'cue' for the audience at home to laugh but rather to satisfy your subconscious desires by creating a 'social - orgasm', the crescendo of which is usually characterized by a loud applause.

Another common technique to help 'immerse' the audience is to include two common setting, one which symbolizes the fictional characters home (normally a place of gathering such as a pub, bar, coffee shop etc) the other symbolizes the audiences home (normally a house with lots of room mates) these setting is always used in the opening scene of the show (after the opening credits) and helps induce a sense of emotive similarity.

This and much more is done for one reason: MONEY ! Its why if you pay for advertising slots the first slot (the first advert the audience see at home after watching a program for however long) is the most expensive, because the audiences subconscious is in a SUPER suggestible state, this state normally starts to disappear once the last few adverts come on before the next part of the show (thats why they are the cheapest).
