Since the Chinese are now in space and the recent video of them being hit by some space junk . One would have expected them to have an up to date tracking system in place prior to any travels into low earth orbit .

Whether they do or not and someone dropped the ball on tracking possible incoming objects says something about their space program when it comes to space junk . Since the USA has their program and they were perhaps tracking the junk that hit the Chinese , not surprised that any avoidance call wasn't made or even the trajectory given to them considering the relations between the two countries .

In the clip link , at the 39 second mark we can clearly see an object hit the Chinese coming from the right to left of the screen .

www.youtube.com...

They are on their own when it comes to the junk up there and any hits from the junk will surely throw that junk into a new trajectory , so everyone that has something up there should be on their toes as a possible risk factor to their satellites . Earlier this year the ISS had a object come close if not hit the ISS when Atlantis was doing there fly around . That object when it appeared to hit the ISS made like a clunking sound in the Nasa feed that was looking back at the ISS from Atlantis . If the open mic was from the ISS or Atlantis is unknown , but a sound of something hitting was heard .

From a global stand point all countries may need to have a talk with the people tracking them in their appropriate means of diplomacy to protect their satellites from new trajectories when the junk is pushed out of their normal travel . If the junk has slowed down or has sped up is also a concern and should be addressed . International incidents have been known to happen in the past and with current tensions . Ahem people .

Not going to ask from this thread whether they would make a call to warm them , I believe some of the opinions around the globe have made it clear as to that answer . Should the Chinese also be making a call for that same perspective to warm of a new trajectory that they have tracked from the junk that hit them ?

Their satellites are not cheap and getting compensation , well , good luck with that .

Perhaps this can be a motivational thought for them to get further out there and away from the MESSY kids room that is out there now . From rogue asteroids / meteors / and our junk , easier to deal with the non human junk when the finger pointing starts . Then there is the public space flights of the future that has to deal with this also . To many drivers on the road that want to venture out further when the tech allows it to happen .

If by doing the global Face Palm is warranted , then it would be a two hand Face Palm . Have they not remembered their Risk Management classes weighing the pros and cons . What are they thinking as acceptable losses ?

Just a thought of what space exploration is facing , from a grounded perspective .

I'm laughing because whoever that was talking in the background sounds drunk as hell

Space junk is trouble, too bad the Chinese didn't think about that

Like Thepublicenemyno1 said, Spacejunk IS trouble! Recently one of Nasa's old satellites fell back to earth. If all space-junk fell back too earth we would be in A LOT of trouble. We had just better hope none of it falls too earth.

I,m kind of waiting ( not hoping ) for a spy satellite to get hit by some of this junk that was redirected to start some crap to come flowing down the pipe .

The US commercial satellite and the dead Russian satellite is another prime example of the amount of debris after the fact of that collision . Now we have yet again another Russian object sitting up there dead in space . Is there some kind of space race going on again that is not taking ALL the necessary steps to prevent it from crashing back to earth .

When they continually want to out do the other guy , that is when they get sloppy in space exploration . Make the trip to space and leave the ego behind . Like a smash up derby just waiting to happen .
