Insulting now? I'll take that as a retreat into defeat as I have shown pretty well that I am a completely sane and reasonable person in my time on this site. I'm rockin' your world view bro.. I understand. ; P

I tend to respond in kind. I was responding to what you said, first, here:

Also when you twist my posts it makes me think you are either a troll or im dealing with a mental defect.

I'm not the one that started with the insults, because I try to have respect for people, even when they have different ideas than I do. But when fired upon, I fire back.

But we have moved beyond the topic of the post. Good evening, sir.

I guess. I was just explaining that your twisting my words brought up "concerns" about who I was arguing with and whether it was pointless (well.. extra pointless).

Robbing and stealing isn't theft out of NEED.

Can you find me one court in the world that will agree with you on that one ?

Can you find me one Law?

No it's just common sense. People who steal out of need are going to avoid violence and likely just steal what they need when they have the opportunity shoplifting etc.

But their are consequences to that,in ALL society's......Thats a fact also.
The risk of jail, the risk of a downward spiral,etc..........

And Violence?

A drug user or some one that "needs" a fix has no qualms about violence,if his "need" is great.

A gambler killing his wife, because he "needs" the insurance money to continue his habit.

Need is being tossed around loosely,I am afraid.

What real "need" does a human being need to take from another?

I need plenty, but I am not willing to take, because taking something that doesn't belong to me,doesn't sit well with my convictions.

RIght,,, i have read these four pages.....

By your definition the person who stole the sword did not do it out of Need, they stole an item of value, essentially that would be near impossible to get rid of without traveling a few towns/cities/states over, for the suggested $350 this seems like an excess amount of work for a tiny return!

So we have cleared up that chances are this was a theft of want rather than need as it wasnt for food, for somthing of high monetary value that can be sold, it was for the specific Item, most likley for fame. or too feed a habit which you dont seem to see as a NEED.

Now theft as a whole is wrong, im not saying through the right sequence of events if needs must and i had expended all my other avenues i wouldnt steal to survive, i however would be entirley convinced that this is infact wrong, if someone has worked, traded, bartered even Begged for an item it is there, i have no right to take it from them as this would then insinuate i am more entitled to that thing than them, which i am not.

people steal out of need... i will give you there are diffrent levels of need.. there is the convinced you need somthing, there is chemically/physically/mentally you need somthing (drugs, alchol, gambling etc) then there is the need for fundemental survival products... stealing for any of these reasons can in no way be justified, i repeat i understand the mentality of people who do it when there seems to be no other option, i feel this has been caused by the very mentality you are defending...

if you expect someone to steal, you are much less likley to invite the needy into you house, to feed and dress them... essentially society has became its own worse enemy . now society generally can always justify there theft as a "need" so its now always justified to steal if you can justify the theft to yourself?

There is really only a very distinct set of human needs.
Addictions don't qualify. You may think you need it, you may go through horrible sickening withdrawals, but you don't need the drug (actually your body needs the withdrawal).

Your needs are breathing, food, water, sleep, homeostasis, excretion, and some say sex, but I don't figure that as a survival need.

I cannot justify those things for myself because currently my needs are taken care of. As for inviting people in need in.. I wouldn't worry about them stealing unless I was just inviting them in for a tour of the house in which case I'm a dick. They wouldn't steal because if they are being invited in their needs are to be taken care of. If that is I was truly in a position to care for another persons needs right now.

People these days?

People have been doing this since the beginning of time. How many Egyptian tombs were raided?

This does not surprise me in the least. Here where I live thieves are stealing everything that is not nailed down. They will strip an empty house of all wire, they have even taken over a mile of TV cable wire, which cost a lot of us watching time for two days. They took a guard rail from a curve on the highway.

When Americans get poor, they come up with ways to make a living, even an illegal living. Whet I didn't mention was there have been some home invasions right here in my little town of late. One beloved schoolteacher was raped and murdered for her medicines and cash. Last week we had three shootings here.
Things are getting worse and worse, and I wonder if Washington is really paying attention?

Huge painkiller epidemic in my town (thanks in part to our efforts over seas I am sure), and pawn shops are what facilitate it more than anything. They are immune to the police (friends even). A smaller town a few miles up the road seems to get the worst of the violence.

I dunno.. it's weird I kind of thrive in this environment (knock on wood), people get real and get smart when times are tough. Oh.. but I carry.

Sure, DC is paying attention, and they really, really want to fix it, so they come up with hundreds of billions of dollars in aid to fix it, but then their handlers say, "thank you very much, we'll take that," and the money ends up in the hands of big corps and banks.

This is the reason, that even though I am as strict conservative and Tea Partier, I still support OWS. It is going to take the efforts of all of us, with all of our conflicting and competing views and interests to unite against a common enemy. The corporate oligarchy is our enemy. They have enslaved all of us, even the pseudo-rich, and pseudo-powerful. We are all under the control of a monstrous corporate machine, and not even our politicians can combat it.

Its going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.

Vic has the right idea, embrace it, deal with it, make sure you are "carrying," and of course "get ready already!!"

Or maybe more drastic measures.
