I looked at the linked site.

I am confused. The things that I read there are vague and ambiguous. I would really like to read what the pope said in it's entirety.

Comes from this I have not read, they say the media has misconstrued his words.

It seems to me that you try to avoid talking about the inital issue: that your source is biased and changed the wording to fit their needs. Maybe you knew that? If not, you better check your sources next time

Taking words out of context to twist the meaning of it is the work of the devil himself. Take lawyers for example. The pope stated an opinion about a period in history where he assumed that pedophilia was accepted and argued that this is the reason for pedophile priests, and condemned the behavior. IMHO, Pope Benedict seems to be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

With this being said the Pope is dead wrong, the root cause of this behavior is not "society" society universally condemns sex with children below the age of puberty. It is the vow of celebecy and the perverse catholic view as the act of sex being somehow wrong that is the cause. So with no real sexual outlet except masturbation, some priests take advantage of young children, somehow twist it in their sick, sick minds that it's not the same as "breaking their vows", and believing they can intimidate the children into keeping it a secret. Sick Sick Sick!

This is an evil which has no equal. People who diddle kids should be castrated with a claw hammer. This is one reason why Hindu priests are allowed to marry and have a family, because lifetime celibacy causes problems in social settings.

There is absolutely no scientific proof whatsoever that suggests celibacy causes people to molest children when they otherwise would not have. That is a gross assumption and just more rehashed media content.

BTW these things happen all the time....Outside of the church.....In society.....If your going to make claims like Celibacy causes it, or society universally condemns anything then you should at least provide some proof to your post.

This is no church of God. It has nothing to do with Christianity except that it is a disguise of the likes. Pagan idol worship it's demonic in nature and you are seeing the results manifest. The power of Satan is what we see manifesting in this abomination of mockeries.

All popes have soled their souls

Wolves in sheeps clothing.

Just wow. Are all you people idiots?

The pope didnt say that he felt it should be this way... He SAID it WAS this way. He might have meant, which anyone could very well see, is that he was refering to the way the world was. There was nothing in there that said that these were his personal feelings.

I can say... "in 2012, homosexuality is common place". Did I say this was right or wrong? No... Even though I am against it, one cannot tell wether I stood on one side of this or the other... All I did was make a statement.

Man.. You people are out for a witch hunt so badly that you'll jump on and believe anything... And they blame dems and republicans... go figure. I think people are just ignorant in general!

Pope: Pedophilia Was "Fully In Conformity With Man And Even With Children"

thenewcivi lrightsmovement.com

In an end-of-year, shocking Christmas statement to Cardinals and other Vatican officials, Pope Benedict XVI said, “In the 1970s, paedophilia was theorised as something fully in conformity with man and even with children,” and added that paedophilia wasn’t even considered an “absolute evil,” according to a report in the Belfast Telegraph.
“Pope Benedict XVI also claimed that child pornography was increasingly considered “normal” by society.

religion is like that, when Pope does it,it is normal, when anybody else do it,it is chrime.

maybe its the attempt to protect "his" catholic church from people saying that pedophilia is a catholic church thing. like:"hey, its not only us, that have these kind of problems."

It's very true the Catholic church is not alone in this kind of vulgar behavior, but thats no reason to come out with anything short of complete and total condemnation. Why not hit the Catholic clergy where even they can understand this? Issue a Papal order (like an executive order with out the controls) that any priest or member acting in concert with the Catholic church, like teachers, etc in Catholic schools who, upon immediate investigation by the police. NOT "just keeping it in the family" will be excommunicated from the church for now and forever. Use the language and methods that send a strong, unambiguous manner. And make sure the civil authorities investigate this, these guys have swept this crap under lovely floor tapestries (rugs for you and me) for many centuries. Enough!

Sounds to me like the same sort of thing Judaism is pushing for, with their Noahide Laws, so we will end up with two more layers of government on top of us, from the "Church" and the "Rabbinical Council".

Evidently, the Vatican is willing to hand over the role of establishing "ethical monotheism" over to Judaism, under Noachide Laws.

BILATERAL COMMISSION MEETING - Jerusalem, March 11-13, 2007
2. The subject of the meeting was the Freedom of Religion and Conscience and its Limits. The human capacity to choose is a manifestation of the Divine Image in which all people are created (cf. Gn 1: 26-27) and is foundational for the Biblical concept of human responsibility and Divine justice (cf. Dt 30: 19).

3. God has created the human person as a social being which by definition places limits on individual human freedom. Moreover freedom of choice is derived from God and therefore is not absolute, but must reflect Divine will and law. Accordingly human beings are called to freely obey the Divine will as manifested in the Creation and in His revealed word.

Jewish tradition emphasizes the Noachide Covenant (cf. Gn 9: 9-12) as containing. the universal moral code which is incumbent on all humanity. This idea is reflected in Christian Scripture in the Book of Acts 15: 28-29.

4. Accordingly the idea of moral relativism is antithetical to this religious world view and poses a serious threat to humanity. Even though the Enlightenment helped bring about a purification from the abuse of religion, secular society still requires religious foundations to sustain lasting moral values. Critical among these is the principal of the sanctity of human life and dignity. Ethical monotheism affirms these as inviolable human rights and therefore can provide inspiration in this regard for society at large.

Back in the 70s, we had a concept of Situational Ethics, by which people justified their own actions based upon the situation at hand. Not much different from a court factoring in extenuating circumstances. Now it's called Moral Relativism in a pejoritive way. The goal seems to be to eliminate secular law and justice in favor of laws based upon a Creationist world view.

The Vatican won't hand anything to anyone but their own absolute church authority, and how did the Jew's get blamed for this as well? Good god man, the Jew's have been the easy scape goat from before Israel was an ancient nation. Let me guess, the "bilateral commission" anything to do with the all knowing all seeing, no doubt the cabal that causes premature hair loss, the trilateral commission...

Blamed for what? I'm not blaming Jews for Catholic priest abuse of children. I'm blaming the Vatican for handing over the solution to the Jewish rabbinical authorities. The document quoted is an official Vatican document, right off the official Vatican website.

Thank you for showing us the truth of the matter, its rather sad most believed what was originally written. So many could have read up on this instead of taking time to bash the church without just cause.

Blame the church for the problems they had, by all means. Just don't try to make it worse then it already is. I think they have been demonized enough with all that is proven they have done and been part of.

You are confused, this is not about christians in general. The Pope doesn't represent christians, he only represent the Catholic Church.

Everytime we have thread like this one, we have members who doesn't understand the difference or try to use it to bash all the christians. Please get informed.

Don't get me wrong. I agree Vatican is wrong, and I am christian.

Frankly, this makes no sense. What ever site this document on the Vatican is actually from, the Vatican remains extreme in being insular and I find it odd they would accept Jewish Rabbinical authorities as being "nominated" by church officials in this or any other matter. It just makes no sense. I don't doubt you read this as reported to be from the Vatican and on their web site, but still, as a recovering Catholic myself it doesn't pass the smell test. Further inquiry would be in order. To turn anything like this over to anyone outside of the church is also a cheap cop-out, and a nice way to say "well, they say this or that so there..." Not acceptable. As stated, more info. is needed.

This doesnt surprise me any after the way they covered up these priests pedo habits over the years. New requirement for all priests, they must get married so that they have a woman to have sex with instead of forced celibacy where they end up taking little kids to the "woodshed".
