This is interesting, so the police are now saying that because a man was shot near the protest they have to go home.

"You have sent the world a strong message; now it is time to go home. Your leaving today, peacefully, of your own free will, on the 30th day, will send a message to Oakland that you care about our citizens and respect our city," the union said.

With last night's homicide, in broad daylight, in the middle of rush hour, Frank Ogawa Plaza is no longer safe," the union said. "Please leave peacefully, with your heads held high, so we can get police officers back to work fighting crime in Oakland neighborhoods"

They are asking them to leave because they "sent the world a strong message" I don't think they are going to stop until something major changes. Surely they can go back to fighting crime in Oakland neignborhoods without stopping the protest?

I read about the death and more then one article said that the shooting had nothing to do with Occupy Oakland.
This is just an excuse, a lame excuse.
Besides, all they can do is ask them to leave. Nothing more.

Maybe someone should call for an end to the police union?

Or make a video.. Fraternal Orders Gone Wild.

Lol. I like how the union says "youre leaving peacefully of your own free will" yet theyre telling them that they will leave and not "asking". Well how are you leaving of your own free will when other people are telling you to leave? Last time i checked that doesn't fall under the definition of "free will".

Maybe even the unions are sick of the whole OWS circus?

If the truth is known, I'll bet the union and the brass at OPD were HOPING something like this would happen so they could have an excuse to blame the Occupy protestors and shut things down. It's been clearly stated that this dead guy was not a protestor and that the protestors protected the body until cops arrived. How transparent.

LOL!!!
Oakland P.D. did a crap job before the protesters got there
The person killed was doomed whether there was a protest or not.
In fact there were probably cops real close to where he was killed, considering he was killed just outside of the camp.
The people know the crooked Oakland P.D. is and always has been a joke.

"You have sent the world a strong message"
Im sure the violent stupidity of the police sent a stronger one when they hit Scott Olsen.

Actually it was the occupy spokes people and others within the movement who said it was just neighbourhood violence etc. Then later it was discovered that the victim was infact from the camp.

So does that mean the police should be out on the streets of Oakland looking for killers, instead of hanging around a peaceful protest where people are victimised by killers?
