Kid, have you been to war? Please, let the adults talk.
No offense but war is not glorious, no matter how many movies youve seen, books youve read or play scenes youve enacted with your friends.
When youre desperately trying to patch a sucking chest wound and your friend is gasping for air as the life fades from his eyes and he gargles his last breath....you kind of wake the # up, as they say.
Welcome to ATS.
I think he missed the sarcastic message I was trying to send.

What i really do not understand is who is behind that movement . Who pull the strings . I have a feeling that these people are used for a much more sinister purpose . It's not only the OWS , it's global .
You can really feel that something major is gonna happen.
It's too bad more people within the movement aren't thinking the same and asking the same questions.
Younger Americans being made to believe in a cause, an agenda and demands that were never theirs to begin with... Used and ultimately discarded in a wasted effort, that will not let them go until the bitter, and possibly violent end.... What, and who do they really serve, and to what end ultimately?
Ah, but most really don't care, they just want to be a part of it, a part of something that goes against the system... Primed for blindly following a movement like this, even if it leads them all off of a cliff.

It is truly unfortunate that you want to kill the thread because people disagree in a way you don't like. People are passionate about this and it's finally something worth being passionate over.
The overall point to these protests is important. Government does not respect the people whatsoever. Peaceful means will do NOTHING. Violence or better yet the THREAT of violence from large enough gatherings will bring about change more effectively than anything else.
The trouble is getting the change necessary without crossing so far over the line that things turn into all out anarchy and you lose all law and order. To me, it's ABSOLUTELY worth the price, because without some basic freedoms TAKEN back, what's the point.
If you're not willing to fight for what's important, then stay the hell out of the way.
Everybody’s been too damn polite about this nonsense:
The “Occupy” movement, whether displaying itself on Wall Street or in the streets of Oakland (which has, with unspeakable cowardice, embraced it) is anything but an exercise of our blessed First Amendment. “Occupy” is nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousness. These clowns can do nothing but harm America.
“Occupy” is nothing short of a clumsy, poorly-expressed attempt at anarchy, to the extent that the “movement” – HAH! Some “movement”, except if the word “bowel” is attached - is anything more than an ugly fashion statement by a bunch of iPhone, iPad wielding spoiled brats who should stop getting in the way of working people and find jobs for themselves.
This is no popular uprising. This is garbage. And goodness knows they’re spewing their garbage – both politically and physically – every which way they can find.

Don't worry if the people bashing the protesters and others who respond to things by posting videos get their way, we'll live in a 1984 world on steroids. They're either useful idiots or unworthy of the freedom given to them, in either case I have no use for you and thankfully there is a growing number that agree.

What I find noteworthy is this:
I teach at a state university. When I go to see the Dean of LAS (Letters, Arts & Sciences, if you're not familiar), I have to walk down a hallway of history/psych/lit prof's offices. Their doors are covered with peace signs, "close gitmo" "save the manatee" "PETA" stickers, "BUS IS EVIL!" "celebrate diversity!" "diverse celibacy!" on and on and on.
When I return to the engineering building, all the math/engineering/comp-sci/physics profs doors are covered with: "turn in your HW here."
enough said.

I'm somewhere to the right of John Wayne and Ronald Reagan. Feel free to try and slap me, hippie.

Think so? The seed was planted years ago, and then we all let it slip...easy to be comfortable in you own living room:

That is why they call true leftists(not necessarily marxists) progressives and true righties as status quo holders.
If you like the way the world is run now then keep voting republican or libertarian. You will get exactly what you want.

I'm very well aware that I share the same planet with some of these people. They, it appears, don't like to share. More properly, I suppose, is their insistence on determining who shares what with whom - who they will share with, and determining for me whom I will share with.
For that they are willing to go to war - an action they so claim to detest. I've been to war. Ironically, against the same sort of people. It seems to me they would have realized that the last few dozen times didn't pan out all that well for them, but I must give them points for persistence.
Fine. There are some people on this planet that just can't learn, and have to have a war at every throw of the dice. Nothing else will satisfy them. I say to them "what in the hell are you waiting for? JUMP! I'm not getting any younger, you know."
Yeah, I'm a little impatient with folks who think they can get their way by intimidation and violence. When I was a kid, that was called "bullying". Now, apparently, it's called "collectivism" - but it's still the same thing, no matter the verbiage it's dressed in.
In all honesty, I was just reading this thread for the entertainment value, watching all the Bantam roosters strutting around, puffing their chests out and crowing just like they thought they were big roosters.
They're so cute when they do that, you know?
I was particularly amused by the tactical wizard who fancied himself the reincarnation of Alexander. He must have studied Alexandrian Tactics out of comic books. The plan he developed, if executed in the real world, would result in a whole lot of hurt alright - just not for the ones he was aiming at. My grandmother could have a mob employing his "strategy" handcuffed within 15 minutes, even while they were still choking and puking all over themselves.
Like I said, I was just reading for amusement, and hadn't intended to participate at all.
THEN came the post I responded to. In the midst of all the false bravado of chest thumping and saber-rattling, THAT guy is real. He means it, and I believe has already been involved in some of the "organization" efforts to promote the violence, unless I miss my guess.
In a sea of emotional wannabes and posers, hooting and chest thumping, one serious man stood up, and I addressed his post. That one I can respect as a worthy adversary, and it will be a pleasure to meet him in the field. I can't even say that I disagree altogether with his ideology.
The rest? They will fall like wheat before the scythe.
