So you would let them freeze and thus have to care for them in the long run? How very noble of you, after all what will the public think if the OWS protestors started to die due to exposure to the elements? How long till the outcry is then to do something?

Then there is the other little aspect that is kind of messy and one that needs to be considered, what about the hospitals? Can the public hospitals and the health care centers handle such a large influx of patients, are they capable of dealing with such?

These are the kinds of questions that will need to be answered, if decisions are to be made.

Then there are the protestors, who are arming and getting ready for confrontation, how does that appeal to the general public? Do you think that they are readily going to accept them, if they start a war with the police, by attacking the police, would you?

Reality is that in the past when it comes to protests, even against what is the socially accepted norm, those who commit the fist act of violence is considered wrong and loses all public support which both sides of this entire movement need to prove that they are right in their views. The local city and state governments need the support of the general population cause that is the nature of politics, and at the same time those on the other side need such, as that is where their support is going to come from.

Right now the majority of the public is on the fence, waiting, and watching. And it does not bode well for the OWS group, when they have agitators in their midst, willing to commit acts of violence and destruction. It gives the entire movement a bad reputation and sets the public against them. This has grown and there needs to be real leadership, those who can take hold the reins and set up some basic ground rules as well as give a general statement as to the nature of these protests, beyond that there are no leaders in the protests. As long as there is that confusion to the public, support is going to be a bit hesitant, and with good reason, look at the current situation in DC where those in the halls of power made promises and gave speeches, yet very little is getting done. The outcome and what direction that the protestors want, is still not clear and the picture that they are painting does not appeal.

Unfortunately there is no third option, cause the weather is what will dictate as to if the protestors stay or have to go, lest that there be more of a strain on a system that can not handle such.

I'll tell you what. Since this country has real issues that need real solutions not protest slogans.

How about this scenario...

Come out on the "Police's" side and smash OWS. Then when the dust settles
Then, turn right around and do what this country really needs and take it to Washington DC and remove those chowder head politicians that caused our problems in the first place...

And replace them with whom? More "chowder heads" who are bought out by the elite to do as they're told or be banished into oblivion when they release their closeted skeletons into the world for all to see? You need to remove the people who manipulate the system to push their own personal agendas before you worry about the guys in DC with hands up their asses, or you'll just end up with more of the same. This whole situation is a catch-22. The Tea Partiers are right, and so are the OWS protesters. There is corruption on both ends of the spectrum and they all need to be removed, either by admitting defeat (hands still crumby in the cookie jar), or they can be dethroned the old fashioned way, which usually means lots of sacrifice on both sides, but a win for freedom in the end. I leave it to those in power to choose how they want to play this, but the game continues nonetheless.

Also, did you know that violent revolutionaries like Bernadine Dorhn were behind the radical anti-war movement, she spoke at Kent State U just before the riots broke out, and the SDS were responsible for that activity, as well as Jerry Rubin's Yuppies They were very leftist. Bernadine Dohrn even now is behind Occupy Chicago. It's SDS all over again, only now with the mega billionaire Soros standing with them with his moneybags.

We can cherry pick our OWS photos all day, but there is defining difference between the two parties, socialism and communism, and you are willingly ignoring it.

I'm not ignoring it, as a matter of fact I've already made it clear that I wasn't attacking 'Socialism' but rather the movement within the movement that many here choose to ignore....

When I post real world images of what IS transpiring within the movement it gets called...

A Cheap shot?

WTF?

Slayer69, were you a Marine? I'm not playing favorites here in the stars and flags game, but I will say that there is unethical aspect to your postings that I find highly curious. What I mean is, you know you're cherry picking photos to support your claim and ignoring other messages, pictures, and statements that immediately contradict what you are saying.

I'm glad you acknowledge there are sub-factions in OWS that do not represent the larger cause. But, to address your "WTF", you know exactly why I said it seems you are pining for sympathy on these boards.

On a side note, since ATS long term members are trained attack dogs at sniffing out weakness and exploiting it through a bait and switch game, I'll make this statement: I'm not part OWS, but as a Marine I will defend their right to peaceful protest.

ETA: Who are these people that star all your posts? You must really have a following of numbskulls behind you for such a smart guy.

Posting real world images of true events that have taken place is not cherry picking.

I just love how so many overzealous OWS supporters come unglued when the movement is faced with looking at their actions in the mirror.

Oh and by the way Asked and answered....

Bernadine Dorhn and Bill Ayers and the rest of the inner core of The Weathermen had direct ties to the US Intelligence community. The intention was to radicalize the anti-war movement to such an extent that it would no longer be palatable to the average individual and thus burn itself out. This has all been exhaustively documented in several books. One example being 'The Unofficial Biography of Barack H. Obama' by Webster Tarpley.

No one on the left understands the founding fathers or the constitution. They absolutely did NOT want professional politicians. It was supposed to be a duty of short duration, then you go home and back to real work. It's too bad they didn't put term limits in, of course that would have been removed by now....like Clinton saying a president should be able to stay in power longer than 2 terms....can you say dictatorship?? The left is ass-bacwards they want freedom by having a bigger more entitlement rich society....only a 5 year old thinks like that.

Good. 0311 here. From those in OWS I've personally talked to and witnessed in Occupy Boston - I've seen nothing but a pure focus their core points that even a cop I talked to agreed with - he said he was sending his son down later to "get the message."

The pictures you are posting, which are real it appears, are not representative of OWS at-large. It's like me going to a Tea Party meeting and finding the one unglued guy, interview him, and then saying he's the face of the Tea Party. Same stuff... different day.

These sub-groups vying for control will ruin OWS, so they do need leadership. Whether it's cell-like example that has driven member Sonnny1 bonkers because the word "terrorist" was used (he'll give up his freedom for security, that's for sure), or some other unconventional leadership role, someone must take the reigns before all the garbage that has seeped into OWS takes over.

Edit: As this thread is getting long, I'll point out that I don't agree with the violence.

More noble than making up their minds for them. They do have minds you know.. But maybe you just like the idea of controlling them. I do think if that solution is the first to jump to your mind.. you should worry about yourself.

I don't understand the need for further discussion. Everyone has read it, on this thread and others, that the goal is for the government to control (or own) business, industry, and money. Perhaps people will be allowed to keep one home and a car, but any significant investments will be controlled by the people.

Either industry will surrender peacefully or it will be destroyed. Government isn't to be protested against, they will be needed for a short time for the transition to the new government and the destruction of the old system.

For now the goal is to get as many people as angry and violent as possible in order to terrorize the system into surrender, or to create an army to defeat the system. Anarchists or other members of the movement will be used to ratchet up the tension and violence. Eventually the police will make a mistake and overreact. That will be used to attract new members and increase the level of anger and violence among the members.

The goals and leadership of the movement must be kept as vague as possible for now. That serves two purposes, the ability to recruit members regardless of their cause, and it increases the uncertainty, thus fear, of those in the system.

As implied above, the new level of anger among the members will present the system with a more frightening image. The goal is to be as terrifying as possible.
