Exclusive - Greece turns to Iranian oil

uk.reuters.com

Greece is relying on Iran for most of its oil as traders pull the plug on supplies and banks refuse to provide financing for fear that Athens will default on its debt.

The near paralysis of oil dealings with Greece, which has four refineries, shows how trade in Europe could stall due to a breakdown in trust caused by the euro zone debt crisis, which is threatening to spread to further countries.

"Companies like us cannot deal with them. There is too much risk. Maybe independent traders are

Interesting, Greece has the Aspropyrgos Refinery & the Corinth Refinery and two other ones, Iran on the other hand has no refineries.

With sanctions no Iran going crazy this will probably piss Obama off.

"They are really making no secret when you speak to them and say they are surviving on Iranian stuff because others will simply not sell to them in the current environment," one trader in the Mediterranean said.

This will perhaps change shortly i'm positive about it.

In the end only the Greek people will suffer because of it.

Interesting times ahead

Do you know what kind of price difference
this would be?

Would this oil from Iran be potentially cheaper
then the other avenues??

It would be free if Greece doesn't pay back a country that is about to get invaded.
Timing!

Since the new Greek PM is a puppet of the Trilateral Commission, you betcha it's all planned by the elite.

This is no coincidence.... that or it won't last.

Why would Iran give away free oil>?

Don't you have to pay for it to get it?

Or your saying greece is paying for it but kind of *putting it on the tab*?

So, does this mean Greece has WMD's?
How long until they are the next target?

They were already overthrown. Last week.

Now it's a Trilateral Commission puppet running the show.

In Italy, it'll soon be a Trilateral Commission/Bilderberg puppet.

[snip snip...]

OP, I'm interested in your basis for saying that Iran has no refineries, because it certainly has some. Granted, they cannot produce enough refined petroleum products to meet national demand (so Iran is a net importer of refined product), but they do have some. Here's a list from the Wiki, but there are other sources available for the same info as well:

Iran

* Abadan Refinery (NIOC), 450,000 bbl/d (72,000 m3/d)
* Arak Refinery (NIOC), 150,000 bbl/d (24,000 m3/d)
* Tehran Refinery (NIOC), 225,000 bbl/d (35,800 m3/d)
* Isfahan Refinery (NIOC), 265,000 bbl/d (42,100 m3/d)
* Tabriz Refinery (NIOC), 112,000 bbl/d (17,800 m3/d)
* Shiraz Refinery (NIOC), 40,000 bbl/d (6,400 m3/d)
* Lavan Refinery (NIOC), 20,000 bbl/d (3,200 m3/d)
* Bandar Abbas Refinery (NIOC), 232,000 bbl/d (36,900 m3/d)
* Kermanshah refinery (NIOC),21,000 bpd

Source: Wikipedia: List of Oil Refineries -- Iran

And they even have accidents with them sometimes as reported here on May 24 this year in the Huffington Post:
Iran Oil Refinery Explosion Kills 2 As Ahmadinejad Visits
Extract:

TEHRAN, Iran -- An explosion blamed on a gas leak rocked Iran's largest refinery on Tuesday around the time of a visit to the plant by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Iranian media reported that up to two people were killed.

"Largest" automatically informs us that there are others.

Are you perhaps mooting a possible future situation in regards to their refineries?

EDIT: S&F for your OP. Interesting and important topic and worth bringing to our attention.

Mike

No, he's saying that Iran won't be collecting on the tab if its been bombed back into the 70s.

Are you ignorant of your surroundings much?

Once the fiat USD is hyperinflated away after major bank failers, due to commitments the FDIC must insure deposits by law, oil transports will halt to america or paid in full by gold and silver.

so no, this is apples to apples

You act like a robot programmed to repeat the same unintelligible lines over and over again. Seriously, let the big boys talk politics if you're not going to state anything more original than xenophobic jingoist views of the commonly acknowledged enemy.

Well not sure how to answer that, but...

Iran also says it no longer needs to import the 40 percent of its gasoline production it used to buy to make up for a lack of refinery capacity, saying an emergency plan to produce the fuel in petrochemicals plants has made it self-sufficient.

Foreign analysts say that is probably an exaggeration and Iranians have complained about an increase in air pollution which may be due to a drop in fuel quality.

www.reuters.com...

However...

"The knowledge of the Iranian engineers in producing the needed spare parts for the refineries has made us needless of importing such parts from outside the country," Parts Procurement Manager of Abadan Refinery Dadar told FNA on Wednesday.

english.farsnews.com...

Iran aims to double its crude- processing capacity to 3.5 million barrels a day, the Oil Ministry’s website Shana reported, citing the head of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Co.

Construction of Iran’s new Persian Gulf Star Oil refinery will be completed by the end of the nation’s fifth development plan in 2015, according to the report.

www.bloomberg.com...

I suspect that it has refineries but since air quality is getting worse it's refineries aren't 100%.

Based on what i've read because of sanctions Iran is trying it's best to rely on the domestic market for refining but is struggling with issues.

Makes you think that the western world could use some sanctions.

As I don't know where HunkaHunka is coming from in his response. I think that US Hyperinflation is a long ways off right now. As long as the US controls the world reserve currency then all countries buy into the bonds etc through purchasing of Oil. This keeps the value of the USD where it is. That could change very quickly however but it's obvious that the US Government is doing everything they can to mitigate this. They understand that if every country that trades oil decides to drop the USD as their trading currency for oil and whatever else then the US would lose its foothold on its own dollars value. Instead of having every dollar compared against it, it would be compared against something else like gold...

Libya, Iraq, Iran and the African Union were all trying to establish a gold backed trading system and well we saw what happened with most of them. Looks like Iran is next.

Basically, The US is trying to create a monopoly on trade currency so that they can maintain control over the value of the USD throughout the world which in turns allows them to influence everything.

Disclaimer **** Above is mostly a speculation from past and current events and some information may be inaccurate. Don't flame...

I digress however Greece purchasing oil from Iran could be nothing more than Greece just trying to satisfy the needs of their industry and commerce. I don't think there is any nefarious reasons behind it but I'm sure that those who control the largest Oil trade in the world aren't happy about the change. The thing is though that Greece's debt is in dispute right now as to whether Greek government should even be responsible for it since it was accumulated due to a rogue government (in their eyes). They just went to someone that can actually supply them with some of their needs.

Greece won't need oil for power much longer. They have a 1mw cold fusion device, and its only a matter of time before it goes viral. Bloomberg and Forbes are two publications which have already warily, if positively, covered the subject. Andrea Rossi is who came up with the device, and is going to be a very, very, very rich man.

This is a horrible thing we are witnessing IMO.
WTF have the Greek people done to deserve this?
It is not their fault but as usual their governments fault.
The Greeks are some of the most friendly hospitable people ever.
I hate the way Greece is being made to be the country that breaks the system.
Its not fair,and its BS.
It is not the fault of the Greeks.
