Just to address the thread title since body is blank - no.
I can't get behind drug testing in general. It's too inaccurate and inconsistent - false positives are rampant based on so many things, some tests
have a general lack of consistency and accuracy, different metabolism rates result in different detectability timeframes, there are a host of ways to
beat them, they're a violation of privacy and self-incrimination protections, and any actual use may not be the result of welfare money being spent
e.g. friends or family wanting to provide some relief to one down on their luck, etc.
Aside from that - some other method of control, I would not be so opposed to. Welfare funds on cards that can ONLY be used at certain locations or
for certain products (along lines of WIC, etc.) or something similar, perhaps.
EDIT:
Ah, there's the body, thanks.
If you say "No" do you think people recieving welfare should have to do alternative programs to maintain that help? (eg. attend a program/class
2X month)
Depending on the requirement and how it is applied in the event of hardship (transport, cost involved, and so forth) related to the need for welfare,
I could definitely approve of something like this. Confirmation of active and *sincere* job search, improvement/education/social outreach
participation, and the like. Something to show they are in fact trying to not have to rely on welfare as well as contributing usefully to society
and/or themselves.
