Excellent point! Get ready for the flaming to start... EDIT: I see it already has....

I know the US isn't perfect, but it still makes me sad to think that there are people HERE in the US who love to hate everything the US has ever done.

Instead of focusing on mistakes, focus on what is so wonderful about America that people are trying to COME here every day. We may be jaded, but to the world, America is still the land of opportunity.

Whenever there is a tragedy somewhere in the world, Americans are there helping out.

I'll take the US, warts and all.

Yeah really, Liberating is what the above guy said,
Installing a puppet democracy that caters to the whim of the united states

And as for the land of opportunity, i have read many an article with the opposite, i never want to go near the united states, glad im a canadian. I'de come down to visit, but not to stay

With unemployment over 9% (actual value is nearer to 20%). No opportunity to be had. But of course im not american, so i dont really know what goes on in every state. Im sure its like here. You have pockets of economic success. Like the alberta oilsands here, or the new shipbuilding project in halifax. Boom towns now.

Yes, folks do so love being liberated from their mortal coil by JDAMs, hellfires, unjudicious use of depleted uranium and tomahawks.

Iran liberated itself from the puppet regime of the Shah, which was put in place by the United States. So I guess that counts.

How many countries has Samoa liberated in the last 100 years?

What a silly question! Obviously imperialist nations, no matter how disgusting and self-interested, will "liberate" someone along the way.

Countries act in their own self interest. Countries America has "liberated" have been done in the self interest of America(usually to undermine a more important enemy). That America has liberated more people than Iran tells us nothing. Plenty of grotesque empires "liberated" plenty of people. And the liberation America has done doesn't really weigh up with the anti-liberation, does it.

A completely moronic question if there ever was one. I suppose because Britain gives more in foreign aid than I don't know, New Zealand? that we're an overwhelmingly more benevolent nation?

Or he is a patriotic American. That'd be my guess.

No it isn't. America offers no opportunities that can't be found in countless other Western and even Asian nations.

American exceptionalism is completely redundant.

It is obvious that the average site member here has no concept of history prior to 1980. America has liberated more countries than any other country on earth. Study history- it's amazing!!
