I am offering this challenge to the fine people of ATS today and that is directed solely and squarely at those that stand against this movement and offer this challenge here.

1. Why do you stand against this movement?
2. What would you like to see in this movement?
3. Have you ever attended an Occupy event?
4. Where do you see this nation and planet in 10 years time?
5. What stances that this movement has adopted are you against and please specify a reason?

The results from this little poll here will be presented to the General Assembly Of OccupyWallStreet encampment at Zuccotti Park and will be posted to other occupations.

Please remain civil, please be respectful of one another, please be specific as daily talking points and generic answers will not be taken seriously.

You want to be apart of change right? Here is your chance!

What say you?

This poll will remain until 10 pages or more of replies are compiled and is your chance to be apart of history! Those offering no answers will be ignored as well as those attacking anyone will be ignored!

I'm not going to answer because you dont seem to draw any distinction between the cause and the actual protesters.
I think I speak for many when I say that the cause of a fairer world, less corruption, more accountability etc... is a good one, but a large number of the actual OWS protesters are an embarrasing bunch of #heads that I want to have no association with.

All of them? Because... well, that's an awful lot of people. What, precisely, forms this opinion of yours that you carpet a hugely diverse array of men and women across multiple nations with?

I guess my question is:
WHAT is this movement?
I haven't seen any focus from these protesters. Are they just against capitalism? Are they just against hard working people being successful? Are they against working?
I'm sorry but I have no idea exactly what these protesters are protesting.
If they had a focus such as....End the Fed or Increase taxes on the rich or Eliminate lobbyists in Washington I could maybe support them. But as it is, I have no idea what to support.

First off.. let me say im not against it.. and s+f to you and your reasoning for doing this. But I do have issues with the occupy movement.

1. Why do you stand against this movement? See above.
2. What would you like to see in this movement? A plan. A leader or group of leaders at each movement
3. Have you ever attended an Occupy event? Nope, but I don't exactly have that liberty. If I did I would be at OWS being it is the closest one to my home location, but it seems that a small un-noticed occupy is going on closer in Philadelphia. Been seeing the people and signs more and more since this whole thing started.. Hopefully they get some results
4. Where do you see this nation and planet in 10 years time? To sh*t... NWO possibly? China based super power possibly? In either case.. I hope we advance in technology and start building out in space, and possibly other planets. Mars would be an ideal first because we know how to warm up planets...
5. What stances that this movement has adopted are you against and please specify a reason? The stance of non-voilence.. and how it has been shown that this isnt true. Violence isnt going to get these people anywhere.. and part of that is because there lack of planning and leadership.

If there was a occupy philly I would totally be there, day in and out, from the time I get off of work, till I need to get some sleep. If I failed to go to work for such a thing.. I would ultimately loose my job, and feed into the 1%'ers and there goals.. soo.. cant let this happen..

Again, I am not against OWS or any of the occupy movements. I simply feel they are un-planned and very mis-guided. They need an outline of what they want, and each separate movement needs a leader, or speaker on there behalf to more easily convey what it is they actually want.

Told you, it cant be done.
You refer to "the movement" in your original post, and now your refer to "the group" as if they were one and the same.

The "movement" would be the one directed at (the things I mentioned earlier) making the world a better and fairer place, but "the group" are the actual people hanging about in parks annoying the locals.
The two are not the same.

1. Why do you stand against this movement?

Because they're a bunch of Marxist Communist, dirty hippies who are stealing from and raping anyone who goes near the protest sites.
Not only that, the entire movement is funded by Nazis and Paedophiles and they are also syphoning electricity from the cancer wards of all the children's hospitals in their respective towns and cities.

2. What would you like to see in this movement?

A bar of soap.

3. Have you ever attended an Occupy event?

No way!! But Fox News has shown me actual footage and live footage and it looked really, really violent and scary and they all have dreadlocks and sit around smoking weed and banging drums all day and occasionally attack police officers and Old People.

Why would I attend that??

4. Where do you see this nation and planet in 10 years time?

Well as the gap between rich and poor is at it's greatest ever, I'm hoping that trend continues.
we should just close the borders, forget about the poverty and injustice in the world and focus on making America GREAT again.
We need to concentrate on our own problems and forget those who just have the "handout mentality" and just want to bleed the nation and world dry.

Obviously the banks that do this are A-Okay with me, I don't mind city traders and CEO's and Bankers making tens of millions of dollars a year in bonuses, essentially using tax payers money and money from those who have had to sell their houses cheap because they lost everything while banks were bailed out from a mess that they created.

I mean that's capitalism right?

And evolution, survival of the fittest I say.

Let the rich succeed and let the poor just die off.

5. What stances that this movement has adopted are you against and please specify a reason?

Handouts and free stuff.

I am against this because my money is for me, why should I have to pay for anyone else for any reason??
That's SOCIALISM!! and it leads to Communism and if we allow that, we'll all be speaking Russian before you know it.

I would rather let people suffer and lose everything than for any of my tax dollars to go to help them.

If you can't stand on your own two feet, then you fall I'm afraid.

Why should people have free healthcare, education, social welfare.... I don't need it so nobody else should have it, I'm sick of these leaches bleeding us dry... NOTHING in life is free, life is hard, deal with it.

And don't even get me started on the immigrants

Basically I'm just against everything they stand for... all the peace and love nonsense.... screw all that.

You should all get a job and stop moaning, I don't care that people the world over are now doing it, let them, there's only about 50 people in all the protests the world over, the MSM told me so and that everyone is fed up with the movements, they should just quit and go home and get a job.

Thanks.

You don't know what they're protesting?

Tell me, and tell me honestly.

Have you tried to find out? Maybe... googled? Talked to someone? Read a newspaper? Even watched the news? I mean if you're like a hermit living in the Saskatchewan woods, and this is the first time you've had internet contact in the last decade, more power to you, feed some squirrels for me.. .but really man... this isn't rare, secretive information. Here, I'll give you a freebie.

The protest is against the corruptive influence of money in our political structure.

Group is the same thing as movement and since you can't come up anything, think of something instead of nothing.

1. Why do you stand against this movement?

They are for bigger government. Lerger government oversight over business. Univeral healthcare. Changing the US Constitution.
sites.google.com...

See the link, that's what I base my opinion on.

2. What would you like to see in this movement?

Nothing. I acknowledge their right to protest, but don't believe in their message.

3. Have you ever attended an Occupy event?

Nope. Tea Party events, but no OWS events.

4. Where do you see this nation and planet in 10 years time?

Either MadMax, or pretty much the same as it is now. Hopefully with less corrupt politicians.

5. What stances that this movement has adopted are you against and please specify a reason?

See #1. Also the link.
I just don't see big government as the answer to corrupt laws that allow CEO's to "loophole" themselves out of the tax code.
Big government IS the problem.
OWSis only going to make a bad situation worse.

Just my humble, of course.

This is not a debate thread and neither is it an attack thread.

1. Nazi's, marxists, commies and pedo's huh? Real smart! Real adult. NOT!
2. Soap? How about you bring some!
3. Kidding me?
4. Wanting the rich to get richer and the poor get poorer? That means you will be worse off then what you are today!
5. No one is asking for a handout. Get that clear! Socialism will lead to Communism if you let it. What if it's your kid who is down on their luck? You'd turn your back on your kid? How low can you get? People would get a job if they could actually find them. Quit yours today and see how long it takes you to get a new one. You'd be unemployed for a year plus since you want no social progs means you fall!

The doc is NOT EVER being changed as the one we recognize is the 1992 revision to include the 27th Amendment!

Yet no solutions and ideas but more of the same.

This thread is asking how we could better represent the 99% and not to end Govt!

Don't get snippy.

I gave my honest assessment of OWS. Actually, I've been drifting away FROM these threds. Just more of the same.

*meh*

Maybe you'll find your answers someother time.
*shrugs*

Let's make sure this conversation stays civil please. No reason to turn this into a left vs right, wrong vs right kind of conversation.

Discuss the issues not each other, and be respectfull about it.

Thank You.

your response to him is proof that YOU DO NOT READ PEOPLES POSTS.......

His post was in jest, and he supports the movement.......

This is proof that you knee jerk reaction to things before thinking and going all the way through it

PROOF that you dont hear anyone out......

How can we take you as a representative of this movement seriously if you cannot do this?
