I was just wondering as I was watching the news this evening.

All those demonstrators that have been arrested in New York.

Will they be able to vote in the election in November or will they be barred for having a criminal record ?

Maybe that's why thousands are being arrested?

You can vote unless you are a convicted felon. The arrests are for misdemeanors I believe.

Most of them...some are for felonies, but if they (the felony arrests) haven't been convicted as of election day, they are all eligible to vote!

Jemison is correct, unless you are a democrat, then you can vote in Fla as convicted felon. or vote twice if you live in New York and Florida.

Yeah as long as they are not convicted of a crime they cans till vote. Tthey were most likely arrested for a felony or misdemeanor such as disturbing the peace, blocking traffic, etc.

Whats the justification for this?
Why should people in jail lose the right to vote?

Do they forefit their rights to be a citizen just because they are convicted of a crime? Thats very draconian, but a good way to shut up any opposition.

Is it life long, or just while they are in jail?

Curious....
