Well, this is not the correct way to win friends and influence people.

SoCal Street Cart Vendors Hurting After ‘Occupy’ Group Splatters Blood, Urine

SAN DIEGO (CBS) — A pair of Southland street cart vendors who were forced to shut down their businesses after “Occupy” protesters vandalized their carts are hoping to get some help from local residents.

The coffee and hot dog carts were located in Civic Center Plaza, the same location as the Occupy San Diego protesters.

That group first settled in to the plaza Oct. 7 and set up a tent city which has since twice been taken down by police.

Coffee cart owner Linda Jenson and hot dog cart operators Letty and Pete Soto said they initially provided free food and drink to demonstrators, but when they stopped, the protesters became violent.

And according to one city councilman, bodily fluids were used in the attacks.

“Both carts have had items stolen, have had their covers vandalized with markings and graffiti, as well as one of the carts had urine and blood splattered on it,” said Councilman Carl DeMaio.

The damages will likely require at least a complete cleaning if not a replacement of the cart covers, DeMaio said.

In addition to the attacks, the vendors also said they recently received death threats.

Didn’t these filthy bourgeoisie pig capitalist businessmen get the memo? Private property is a thing of the past and free hot dogs are a HUMAN RIGHT!

These vendors should have known better!

You don't invite 30 people over for a meal and only have enough food for 5!

They never should have given any food away for free because the word got out rather quickly that some were getting free food while others were not.

They should have known that a lot of these demonstrators feel an overwhelming sense of entitlement just by past press alone!

Having read the article and followed along with the OWS movements in different cities, the following can be stated:

And so it begins, it was only a matter of time before things started to get ugly and less peaceful. Oh the protests were fine and dandy as long as the protestors were getting what they wanted or were able to do what they wanted to do, but when the chips are down, and things like being hungry or cold starts to set in, those peaceful protestors start to become ugly, harsh and violent.

Many of the reports, those of the crimes that are being committed by the OWS are starting to get more and more violent, as it is pretty much obvious that the public is slowly turning their support away from the OWS groups. Winter is coming and it is coming fast, temperatures are dropping, and tempers are starting to flare.

While the small vendor carts in that area are there to provide a service to the different people, the OWS people there in San Diego, do not understand that these people that work those carts, do it just about every day, to make a living. They have to abide by the standards that are set by the local government for food safety and ultimately, this is going to just cause another segment of the population to turn their support to the other side.

Protesting should always be peaceful, never violent, it is what separates a protest from a mob/riot. Every act like this, every crime that is committed by the OWS only causes them to look bad in the publics eye. Ultimately I am surprised that they turned around and bit the hand that was giving them something, and those who did, just found out a very harsh lesson.

The question now should be asked, how far are these protestors going to go, when the temps drop down below 0, or when the supplies that they have are next to nothing, will they start to get even more aggressive in their stance and actions, cause the longer that they remain there, and more hungry, cold or thirsty that they get, things could spiral quickly out of control.

surprise surprise, the protesters begging for handouts and socialism once again got mad when they were asked to pay for something. the entitlement that this occupy movement has shown is disgusting. these "protests" are nothing more than a hippy excuse to cause trouble, im sure they actually beleive they are fighting for something but they arent. they are creating or expanding class warfare. and im not talking about rich vs poor, im talking middle class hard working people vs these scum who feel entitled to everything the middle class has worked for.

The VENDORS should have known better?? Since when is it the victim's fault in a violent assault and..in this case..robbery could fairly be levied as well.

I'm rather surprised California isn't taking this very very seriously. They take pee bottles thrown out by truckers as legitimate hazardous materials with the full crew required to clean an area that has a collection of them built up. I guess food vendors don't rate the same consideration or protection...after all, they're just street vendors, right?

Oh and yeah, nice one OWS. Everyone who show these people compassion or kindness at any level wind up getting hurt when the protesters decide whatever has been offered simply shows they should be DEMANDING more. I'm really coming to stand with those calling for their eviction.

Enough is Enough and these aren't isolated incidents anymore. They're systemic and are coming to characterize the OWS movement in cities all over the nation.
The show is about over...enjoy the last bit of tolerance while it lasts.

pretty soon the cold is coming, are these protesters going to destroy buildings and offices and homes of people to try to get warm? "hey middle class man, i dont care that you have worked a trade for 20 yrs and own your home, let us in to stay warm or we will vandalize your property and leave the cost of repairs to you just like we've done to the public parks in the citys we live in"

I didn't say it was there fault. I said they should have known better and there is a difference there.

Ever been chased by a pack of hungry dogs? They don't care if you have any food left or not.

The OWS crowd keeps claiming they are world-wide as if it’s a badge of honor. They are correct; they are very similar to their brethren overseas. In Greece, protesters have no understanding that the things that they have come to expect (and now demand) have led their country into bankruptcy and are completely unsustainable.

NY Times

ATHENS — By now, it almost feels like a ritual: a strike and large demonstration disrupted by skirmishes and tear gas ahead of a parliamentary vote on new austerity measures that Greece needs to take to qualify for the next installment of aid the country needs to fend off default. Although the demonstration was organized by leading labor unions, everyone from trash collectors, teachers, retired army officers, lawyers and even judges walked off the job to protest the government-imposed wage cuts and tax increases that they say are squeezing the debt-ridden country into penury. The controversial bill includes cuts in wages and pensions as well as thousands of layoffs in the public sector — once a political third rail in Greece’s welfare state. It also changes collective bargaining rules to make it easier to hire and fire workers, a highly unpopular action that economists say is crucial to liberalizing Greece’s economy but that has little popular support.

America is heading in the same direction and we’re seeing the beginning right now. The more they get - the more they want – the more they become dependent – the more they demand. When the money runs out, and it will…just like every socialist utopia, then they go after the greedy rich. They completely fail to grasp that money doesn’t grow on trees and that they might actually have to be self reliant.

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that there are groups within the OWS groups trying to rile things up and cause this sort of problem? Also, there is ALWAYS going to be a bad element in any form of movement. To think that everyone will be perfect angels during this is just lunacy. Don't blame the many for the actions of the few...

Does not really shock me, some of their hearts are in the right place but really anyone that can drop their lives and camp in locations and # in the streets will not be an outstanding member of the public. Will be a mix of activists and homeless.

The problem arises when people that want to cause trouble lump themselves in with the activists. I guarantee that most of the troublemakers dont even believe in the core fundamentals of the movement itself. I still think the occupations need to happen... just a way to deal with troublemakers needs to be done democratically with each group themselves if they want to root out the problem and keep people from tainting the view of the group.

Give me a break! There are more reported crimes from OWS protests around the country than I could list here. That’s ridiculous to try and dismiss it as just a “few” people.

By the way, over 1.5 million people (Tea Party) marched on DC on 9/12/09. I didn’t see any violent crimes happen there! No vendors robbed. No assaults. No rapes.

Guys these are protesters

According to many members on ATS we are agents and shills for the government when we speak against them.

Im sure people will come along and say it was rouge agents who caused the rukus against the hot dog carts.

Or perhaps it was atmospheric pressure that caused some of the ows protesters to go awol on the hot dog carts after the freebies were done...

Or maybe it was some sort of evil drug in the water supply that the ows kids drank that made them act this way.

I've been sick of these wolfs in sheeps clothing for along time. But it doesn't matter though because

they represent the 99 percernt right ?

wrong.

Local business owners your next after the rats need more freebies. watch out.

But its okay .. its OWS we should support it and forget these little incidences , its just government agents trying to provoke these "staged" clashes lol

look at this cute comment

"The VENDORS should have known better?? Since when is it the victim's fault in a violent assault and..in this case..robbery could fairly be levied as well."

hehe reason and logic like this that makes my jaw drop sometimes.

Next time OWS asks for community support i'll remember this

Come on here! We all know that the real OWS protestors didn't do this. They are all peaceful, non-violent people who just want to get their message across. It had to be some outsiders who did this. Somebody who was paid by the Republican Party or the Koch Brothers. Somebody who was planted by the Government or the Police to discredit the movement.

OWS is starting to remind me of a drug raid that happened in Miami in the late 80's. The Miami police raided a drug house that ended up being a DEA sting operation, both sides consisted of nobody but cops.

I have to wonder if the OWS people are right, and we remove the undercover police, the government disinfo agents, the Repubilcan Party's and the Koch Brother's agents and everybody that the OWS protestors blame everything on, would there be anybody left?

Again.... the actions of a few should not represent the many. I support the movement and what it represents, not the idiots that want to run around, destroying small businesses that they should be protecting.

Are the ''99%'' robbing each other to gain a financial, acquisitive and dominant advantage over each other ?

Who would have thought it ?!

Say goodbye to ideals of pixie-land and rainbows, and hello to millions of years of survival-dictated human evolution, and the concurrent ''law of the jungle'' which goes along with it.

Don't get me wrong, I have sympathy with a lot of the gripes which the OWS supporters have, so I'm not against the movement, per se. But there's really so much naivete and lack of real world nous amongst the average members, that it makes me want to tear my hair out.

If OWS is to survive, they need to publicly address issues like this.

They need to out the people that are doing things like this and hand them over to the police.

Incidents like this will reduce their movement to nothing if they continue.
