The Computer hardware society was dependent on humans buying new computers every 12-18 months.

It's the only way they've been able to keep hardware speeds growing, and those Taiwanese/Japanese/Intel/AMD folks busy creating the new thing.

But it's all stopped. We've reached "Peak CPU". Nobody has jobs to keep buying new computers.

In 2003 when they created the new plot to put kill switches in motherboard BIOS's....it had several purposes:
--Microsoft wanted to switch off hardware to all those people using that Bootleg XP Professional with the Corporate Key....turn their motherboards off.
--HP wanted to be able to turn off laptops after warranties expired to force people to buy new ones.

Vista chased alot of people away...Apple doesn't have a business model to foster computer hardware growth.....they aren't a gaming platform.

We've hit "Peak CPU". Governments are the only thing now funding Computer Hardware growth. The world's going to Linux and there's no demand for high end computers anymore.

Nobody can afford to feed them. They've turned into Horses. All these Government SuperComputers still haven't solved humanities #1 problem.....how will we have energy after Oil?

Maybe a little slowdown, but nothing has stopped, nor will it in foreseeable future.

A bit off-topic in this thread, but indeed, thats the problem #1 facing humanity in 21st century. Age Of Petroleum wont last forever. Id say advanced nuclear (thorium) is the answer.

If you map the neurome of already adult brain, it will all be there. You will essentially make a copy of the persons mind. No need to repeat the development process of it.

Thats not a fact , nobody knows that for sure if it can be done with a non-bio circuit.

I think experience and memories create a thinking brain. Every living part of the human body has a need to survive, to be nourished and together it all works in unison. Many living things creating a greater living entitiy. That cant be replicated with chips and wires. You might be able to program something that seems to have intelligence but thats not the same.

Its going to be many years in the future before we know either way.

Don't come into my thread, or any of ATS for that matter, and just make BS up from the top of your head.

We've reached "Peak CPU". Nobody has jobs to keep buying new computers.

Maybe you haven't realized this, but there's actually a world outside the United States and some parts of Europe. Asia for example. The worldwide PC market is rapidly expanding, as it always has, but especially in Asia.

In 2003 when they created the new plot to put kill switches in motherboard BIOS's....it had several purposes:
--Microsoft wanted to switch off hardware to all those people using that Bootleg XP Professional with the Corporate Key....turn their motherboards off.

Take the tin foil hat off, it's making you obnoxious and idiotic. There is no kill switch in BIOS in most computers. Some specific models of business laptops have them. Even if there was a kill-switch then clearly it's almost never used because a dead motherboard from a BIOS that went corrupt from installing a pirated OS is unheard of.

Apple doesn't have a business model to foster computer hardware growth.....they aren't a gaming platform.

Implies the only reason that people buy new hardware is for gaming.

Vista chased alot of people away...

They went with XP instead.

The world's going to Linux and there's no demand for high end computers anymore.

Less than 3% of the market is Linux. A high end processor isn't needed to check email so your average home user doesn't need a high end processor. But don't let that fool you, there's a far bigger market beyond selling to the average user. Intel Sandy Bridge based processors are selling extremely well.

We've hit "Peak CPU". Governments are the only thing now funding Computer Hardware growth. The world's going to Linux and there's no demand for high end computers anymore.

Buying tens of thousands of processors for some government super-computers is only a very small part of total production.

SuperComputers still haven't solved humanities #1 problem.....how will we have energy after Oil?

Oil isn't going to spontaneously run it. We will never run out of oil. It will just keep being more and more expensive to extract it till it's uneconomic.
