In 1939 a great film was played to the American people, that film was "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington".

Synopsis: The governor of an unnamed western state, Hubert "Happy" Hopper (Guy Kibbee), has to pick a replacement for recently deceased U.S. Senator Sam Foley. His corrupt political boss, Jim Taylor (Edward Arnold), pressures Hopper to choose his handpicked stooge, while popular committees want a reformer. The governor's children want him to select Jefferson Smith (James Stewart), the head of the Boy Rangers. Unable to make up his mind between Taylor's stooge and the reformer, Hopper decides to flip a coin. When it lands on edge – and next to a newspaper story on one of Smith's accomplishments – he chooses Smith, calculating that his wholesome image will please the people while his naïveté will make him easy to manipulate.

Mr. Smith ends up not accepting the corporate agenda and hosts an epic filibuster.

I have seen this film many times and what stands out to me is the fact that nothing has changed and they were clearly as upset with it back then(1939) as they are now(2011). I don't think it will ever change. I don't necessarily think occupy is right but I do think something is wrong. Let me preface the next statement by stating that I think working hard and making a lot of money is a great thing but I don't think that dream is on the horizon for most people like it was before. We are living in a system setup by people with a lot of money who posses the motive and means to get more money through corrupt practices rather than honest business and once that system is perfected it will be no different than when there were kings and peasants. The only real difference is the fact that we are shrouded in the guise of freedom and lie that we can get there.

*Fast forward to the political scene(starts at ~45seconds) if you get bored easy.
And if you don't feel like watching that here's a quote from it;
"Just get up off the ground, that's all I ask. Get up there with that lady that's up on top of this Capitol dome, that lady that stands for liberty. Take a look at this country through her eyes if you really want to see something. And you won't just see scenery; you'll see the whole parade of what Man's carved out for himself, after centuries of fighting. Fighting for something better than just jungle law, fighting so's he can stand on his own two feet, free and decent, like he was created, no matter what his race, color, or creed. That's what you'd see. There's no place out there for graft, or greed, or lies, or compromise with human liberties. And, uh, if that's what the grownups have done with this world that was given to them, then we'd better get those boys' camps started fast and see what the kids can do. And it's not too late, because this country is bigger than the Taylors, or you, or me, or anything else. Great principles don't get lost once they come to light. They're right here; you just have to see them again! "
