I was hoping you'd get what I meant.
In your second example, the priest would get in... provided his repentance and belief is true. And as far as I know, true belief has always been part of the price of admission. Hardly seems fair. (If I'm wrong on any of that please correct me.)
And inequities like that... aren't easily rationalized away.
So, explain if you can, where the morality is in denying people, whose actions are good / beliefs are neutral, heaven yet granting sicko's whose actions are unspeakable yet believes ?

So a person dies, and winds up in a line, waiting for there turn to be judged.
He strikes up a conversation with the person in front of him.
"So, what did you do with you life?"
Person responds, "Oh, I killed 10 people, raped 20, and ...." he is interrupted by others in the line... 20 minutes of "you better be going to hell" by various people ensues...
It's the rapists turn to be judged...
God: You killed people, molested and raped, you broke all my rules.... Why should I let you in heaven?
Rapist: Um, uh, uh, I believed that you existed.
God: Good enough, come on in...
A riot ensues in the line, people are outraged....
The next person's turn to be judged
God: So, what did you do with your life.
Good Guy: I cured a disease, gave to the poor, helped the sick. I aced your test.
God: But....
Good Guy: I had doubts about you; I was too busy helping people. Dabbling in religion, which has caused so much harm in Earth's history, seemed counter-productive... I figured I'd be judged by my actions.
God: Your the devil! Away you go to hell...

Is the scenario above one that you think happens????????????
