The reason we have many religions, and evolution of said religions,
is because society evolves. new methods of control are constructed to meet
the technological and social progresses of humanity.

The method of control is via basic needs.
We educate ourselves until our late 20ies before we end up
with careers that can fulfill our basic needs.
Compare it with our past, the natural state of man,
where we would own farmlands and be self sufficient with a familly
in our early twenties. We sacrifice more and more of our youth
to the idea of being able to satisfy our bellies and have a safe place
to sleep in. Slavery through dependency.

And what steers our minds to accept such rubbish?
Before we had religion, now we have Fox News
and MTV.

You'd be right about me not believing in something I have never seen.
I was a UFO skeptic till I saw a flying saucer

Now I think they're ours. (Haven't seen any aliens yet)

We incarnate to learn.
Some lessons can only be learned on this level, essentially because other souls/soul groups are implicit in the lesson/s (both for us and for them), and the gross physical world is a basic college.

In answer to the second question...
If you were to embark on a specific career, you would want to have situations pretty well set up (to a certain extent) to make that career target.
To this end, the question of when, is dependant on the how...the proper situation must arise...bang! You're in!

Some do not remember this process, when standing on the diving board between 'there' & here.
Some indeed do not remember being 'born' to the carnate.

Time is not a function of 'there'...so the concept of 'waiting' is not an issue.

Answer to 1. To learn
Answer to 2. When it is convenient.

This all sounds very idealistic, but the 'natural state of man' is girls getting knocked up when they're 12, scrounging an existance on berries and small furry mammals and living to a ripe old age of 28. Anything beyond that is a man made construct. In your self sufficient farming world youth is over by the time you're strong enough to do 'adult' work. The society we live in now youth is artificially extended well past the time teens should be thinking for themselves and making responsible decisions.

But in all these worlds we are still a slave to dependance. The need for food, shelter etc are consistant throughout. The difference now is that we are brainwashed to think that we need more material things beyond those which it takes to meet these basic survival means in order to be happy.

This is why I look beyond what can be physically seen and touched to try and figure out if there is something more. And have seen a lot which is unexplainable on the level of everyday science. This is what gives extra meaning to my life. You obviously haven't, and so your point of view is understandable.

I argue that we waste our youth in unproductive ways when we could
build foundations quicker. I strongly believe that most of what the
education system covers is a total waste of time, people should be taught
what they need in order to do a certain career, anything else they wish to learn,
well, there is such a thing as books. The reason why the youth are stranded
in school for longer is because education is a business, the more you "need" it,
the more money the owners of said businesses make. Not to mention that
companies now a days want to cut expenses, so in order to actually do that
they migrate the cost of training towards the employee.
I had my share of computerized mumbo jumbo waste of time job trainings where the only thing
I actually needed to know for the job is basic math and basic English (elementary stuff).
Everything is computerized anyways, all we have to do is data input,
then we get an answer and the job is done.
No thinking involved. Not everyone should become "specialized".
This notion of specializing everyone is a bunch of bs created for one reason only,
make the capitalist more money, at the expense of the worker.

By the way, even in the modern day and age, there are still people
who can barely afford food and rent, much less an education,
and I'm not talking about Africa or Asia, I'm talking about western civilization.
Think about that for a second.

We have to look at it from the perspective of collective consciousness - for example, animals are still connected to their collectives, and thier bodies are more like projections from their dimension - when they evolve to grow connected to the material plane, they lose connection to thier collective and start to become "individuals" - at first only during adulthood or at certain phases can they exist in the physical, however, over time they grow connected to the physical world and start to sense pain and pleasure in stronger measures, however, are more evolved so as to have escaped the experience of such things.

Eventually, when the connection is almost lost, life becomes a series of incarnation and reincarnation - we have to "die" so that we can "remember" where we came from.
