Since it's looking more and more like an attack is imminent on Iran, I'm wondering how people plan to respond to this. The majority of ATSers have not fallen for the hype, and we understand that our government is being a puppy for Israel and preparing to follow them into a largely unprovoked war. So it's not a matter of if, but WHEN it happens; what are we gonna do?

Are we gonna sit here on ATS saying "damn, that #'s crazy!! we're at war again, we gotta get these guys outta office!!" *eats potato chip*

Are we gonna NOT protest it in the streets because big scary George Soros might have some money behind it?

Are we gonna avoid protesting because we don't agree with the OWS movement which is already in the streets in almost every major city cross country?

Are we gonna sit on our ass and try to convince ourselves to hate Iran because we're Obama fans?

I have a very bad feeling that these scenarios will converge when this goes down. I feel that people are gonna hit the streets, along side, or separate from the OWS movement. People behind their computers are gonna say "they shouldn't have built that nuke facility. you idiots aren't gonna change anything, go home." People are gonna try to pin the protests on some elite figure trying to incite chaos and bring about martial law and the new world order.

Fact of the matter is, we are so divided in ideologies that we won't even be able to respond as a unit to a continuation of injustice by our government. Just putting this out in the air because this reality is fast approaching, and while the elite will be maximizing their profits, we will be getting spent out, screwed, and will be too busy bickering to realize that we've been #ed....again..

peace

Frankly, if Iran is attacked, it will be one of the few times the Government made the right decision. The sooner the better

You my good sir,
Took the words right out of my mouth. All i hear is bitching and whining about 'oh things needs to change', oh, but im not going to do it. Someone else will eventually do it. In another century. When my children are grown up. Psh, its happening NOW!

People are so divided, they cannot see past their own ego and ideology, its not about isms or ists or all this garbage, i dont get how someone is "I'm leftist liberal turltle wanker" or whatever, who the eff cares what political backing you support, when it comes down to it. Both sides are screwed, and being on either side is the wrong side.

Sometimes i can't even handle some of the people on ATS, not them personally, just the way they generalize and demonize based on their own fractured opinion on what a real protest should be.

All that soros money is going to buy some nice winter gear and keep them there longer! I hear they're putting up Yurts now in some places, which is awsome. Sometimes i can't wrap my head around people who cry communism or socialism, last i checked, obama was doing some things that were definatly socialist, bailouts anyone?

Iran is being framed, they want a reason to go into Iran, even if they have done nothing wrong, they will destroy the country, take its resources, charge a hefty penny for them back home to make top profit off of it.

While making weapons profits
and infrastructure profits
and resource profits

And the iranian people will be taking all the punishment, and with these 100 papers iran has against the US, i hope they're juicy ones, maybe people will get the damn hint.

You sound like a right-wing lunatic. JOKING

Malcolm X put it best. "We've been had." but unfortunately we're still being had. And if we allow this action without serious repercussions from the PEOPLE who own the GOVERNMENT (us, then that just shows how far out we are.

We should respond by getting a new government.

How broke do we have to be before we stop spending on war?

It's weird huh? We're broke, they're not. I got like $23 in my bank account. The elite have 23 bank accounts!

We should say, "Hell damn no."

Not that I like or care for Iran or it's leadership, I care more for my brothers (and sisters) in arms lives.

That's where the line is drawn for me.

Screw the Middle East, bring my brothers and sisters home.

If Israel bites on Iran, they can choke on and swallow what they bite off, or get chewed to hell in the process.

That's what we should do, but do you not foresee the naysayers saying "oh yall are yelling but they're not listening - give up!"

If two countries disagree about something, fine, let the two country leaders step into the ring and punch until 1 drops. Why do they have to stand back and send in members of the Electorate to fight for them????

History alone spells out the present situation. Prior to the past 2 world wars, oh and when WW1 ended, a member of the UK Parliament stood-up and said, "Let this be the war to end all Wars". He might just as well stood up and sang a song.
Prior to WW2 a global financial problem cropped up, strikes and protests happening everywhere. then Germany invaded Poland...............need i say more.

Iran is going to be Poland soon and once someone incades or attacks such, watch other countries start to become involved. Politicians are not on the front line, so they survive Wars. It cost lot's of money to clear up after a Nuclear incident, so 10:1 is going to become a global threat of , oh dear, WMDs.

I hope i am wrong right across the board, but the present global atmospher stinks of such an oncoming fate.....

You just brought something up right here that sort of took my breath away.

Suppose, just suppose, that these protests were timed to be happening, on purpose as a deflection from us going to war with Iran.

Yep, that's the ticket. Keep people so confused that they won't be able to decide what issue to protest over!

Protest...and join the "hippie scum". No seriously, write All your representatives, then protest...then repeat DAILY; hourly even. Honestly, you have no other course of action....once the machine is set in motion, there is no stopping it...unless you destroy it; in which case, you become an enemy of the machine (i.e., the state)...it's pathetic; but the best we can hope for is that those service men & women stand down and defy their orders...if they don't then gawd help us all!

Insert new anti-war catch phrase...

If it happens, I know for a fact that OWS will add that to the list of grievances. Ending the wars is already a big part of the theme, so OWS would be the stage for the anti-war rallies.

Oh I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing from a lot of ATS'ers (me included) that this is a very bad idea, and is NOT the answer.

To the OP, how do we respond? More protests? Maybe like the 60s? This military industrial machine needs to end now.

There will be an answer
Let it be.

No need to bomb .we can all smile and let it be.

But Paul Mcartney was in tune with something way way above waht our leaders (sic) can offer.

So they will bomb and kill, and then move on to Turkey an dthen China and ww3, beacause they just cannot let it be.

How would I respond to our government attacking/invading Iran?

I'd go sit outside of the nearest Israeli embassy I could find, holding a sign stating "Down with AIPAC. REMEMBER the USS LIBERTY!"

Well, things like a job and a family would prevent me from actually doing that, but you get the idea..(I hope)

The attack has already begun in the form of framing your thoughts, decisions and opinions. Next comes awaited justice. Resist mind control by turning off media framing.
