A great little clip here of Nature..........

Are they being remotely controlled? or affected by Radio waves? Or is it just an amazing spectacle put on by mother nature ?

Filmed by two girls in Ireland, completely unexpected and a reminder that there is no better example of Syncronised flying......... enjoy..

Thanks for posting this. I don't care for starlings, but this is a good video.

I like when the flock splits in the beginning. It is like the sky tears apart.

Ever see a large mob run from tear gas or the like? Doesn't look that much different.

Absoutly amazing, saw this video yesterday, scientist have been studying this behavior (along with schooling behavior in fish) for Manu years and still have no solid answer as to haw they accomplish such intricate movements without running into each other.

Just breath taking.

Way too cool

They totally look like locusts. Always wondered if they ever smack into one another...

Maybe that's how they mate and procreate

That's better than a flock of ravens, which is a murder. I think people flock too. Have you ever worked at a fast-food restaurant? Everyone seems to get hungry at the same time. Cars clump on the expressway, even kids play in 'flocks' on the playground. I found some rules for flocking:
1.Separation - avoid crowding neighbors (short range repulsion)
2.Alignment - steer towards average heading of neighbors
3.Cohesion - steer towards average position of neighbors (long range attraction)
It's still amazing that they don't run into each other.
